LeAnn,
You did just fine on the news the night of the memorial. You have nothing to worry about.

Tony,
Go to Local 12.com, then enter Beverly Hills in the search box. It will take you to all their links to this subject. One has a "watch this video", and that should take you to it.

Thornhill,
After all I've read and hearing what Dave and Wayne had to say on WLW, I'm convinced that they should re-open the investigation. Did you try e-mailing me? Sometimes the e-mail I gave you before is not very reliable. I would like to talk to you off this board. Try rschramm1@cinci.rr.com
Thanks.

Hi everyone--I spearheaded the efforts to get the historical highway marker installed at the former site of the Beverly Hills Supper Club. It will be installed by Friday, Oct. 26th and the marker dedication ceremony will be held in the parking lot on Sunday Oct. 28th at 3pm. Everyone is invited. The marker explains the fire and states that it is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the fire. It is not the grand memorial that everyone has been hoping for, but it's a start.

I lost several friends in the fire. I was recently at the site on Christmas Eve day; or at the bottom of the hill to be more presise. I wanted to walk up the hill and just look around. Although, I'm sure there's not that much to see anymore. I just feel and have felt for many years I need to go up there for some strange reason, There was a no tresspassing sign, and I did'nt want to risk spending Christmas in jail. Who could I contact to get permission to go visit the site the next time I'm in Newport?

Tim, the property is owned by Life Enriching Communities. I pulled this from last years newspaper piece, marking the 30th anniversary...

Connie Schmitt, vice president of marketing and public relations for Life Enriching Communities (which owns the site)... She says no one should be going up there unless they have permission from her company."

My Uncle was the Assistant State Fire Marshall at the time of the fire. the state and others attempted to place the blame of the fire on my uncle and others in the office. This eventually led to the resignation of the State Fire Marshall and my Uncle took over. The investigation conducted by outside interests concluded that fire regs and inspections were per code and policy. I still think it interesting that this fire is not further investigated.

Also, Life Enriching Communities is associated with the West Ohio Methodist Church Association. I am a bit suspicious about why they are holding this land. I think the community must insist that any development be in good taste and include a sginificant memorial. Perhaps contacting Church officials would be a good way to start on the project.

Regarding Verdie, her husband's murderer is known and is in jail for another murder. He will never be charged though because Newport police botched the investigation.
