Daft idea. Use WiFi instead of RFID tags. Well, maybe not so daft...

 Well there is no stopping the RFID movement. The RFID is at an impasse with
RFID and Disruptive Innovation as the likes of the Tagzapper. The Tagzapper will kill the RFID chip by atomization the small electronic devices that consist of a small chip and the antenna. So They will move forward with the RFID and so shall the Tagzapper moveforward to counter each move.

I wouldn't have believed it. A WiFi device the size of a match box - but with a battery that lasts for three years?

Well, it doesn't have to send and receive any real data, so...
