On Saturday, Roy Rondeno, Sr, a City Letter Carrier from New Orleans was standing behind his vehicle preparing for his next swing when he was struck by a vehicle that was rear-ended from behind which caused him to have both legs amputated. He is currently in ICU in New Orleans. The District is asking each office to send him a get well card. Please see information below. Please keep Roy and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

His wifes name is Shirley and they have two children. Roy is a 57 year old postal employee with 34 years of Postal Service and 3 years of prior military or federal service. Roys wife just retired and Roy was looking forward to retiring in the next year or two. Saturday was Roys regular scheduled day off but called his supervisor at Uptown station when he learned that the station was down 12 routes to volunteer to come in and assist. His customers on his route have established a special fund at
Capital Bank with can receive donations at any location Account Name is: Roy Rondeno, Sr. Donation Fund established by residents along his route to assist his wife and family.
Roys story will be featured on WWL-TV tonight. WWL-TV has received numerous emails and calls telling the story of Roys accident and his commitment to service, the Postal Service and most importantly, his customers. Posters have been placed along his routes telling of the special fund set up in his name to help with expenses.
