Say that 30,000 workers actually takes this offer/incentive...you mean to tell me the post office has $300,000,000(30,000 x $10,000)to pay out in the next month after claiming they may not be able to make payroll by fiscal years end? Where's the money coming from? I smell a rat??? What's up with that????

Since August 2008 (the first VER offer) Potter has been crying there is NO MONEY for incentives!!

The second VER offer came and again the same message:
No MONEY for incentives!!!

Suddenly,....out of nowhere POTTER manages to find money??? Yeah right.
WHAT A FRICKEN LIAR!!!!
This is a clear indication of the type of person who is running this organization. And yet Obama wonders why the USPS can't be more efficient like UPS and FEDx? Maybe the CEO's of those companies are a tad more "HONEST" with their employees rather than manipulating them with dishonest tactics. POTTER you are a disgrace to the human race and should step down from your position immediately.

It should be more obvious NOW than EVER. When the leader of the organization can candidly LIE to employees with 20++ years in and not bat an eye you know what you are dealing with. This company is DOOMED.
The morale is going to plummet now that they made this offer to some and not others. Lies and deceit will eventually bring any company down. What a total disgrace

I say to all the unions or employees we should offer all managers $15,000 to resign so this company can get rid of the dead weight that as got us in this mess, so we can run this business like the real service it was meant to be.

Did you know? The Post Office budget for the PFP Program (bonus program) is $2 billion per fiscal year. They will begin pay out on the PFP in the Fall. See how crooked they are.

Yeah, but...all us postmasters under the PFP have such pitiful scores due to the decline in revenue that they won't have to give any of us raises.
I would assume after this batch of early out employees go that they will then re-evaluate all offices and cut positions where possible and move those people to the vacancies made by those who have left. Lots of changes are coming, I believe.
Yes, it is disappointing that Potter was untruthful. Who knows what to believe now.

I know of a level 18 office nearby that used to have 1 full time clerk and 1 PTF. The full time was excessed this year leaving only the PTF. Now the district is attempting to excess the only clerk in the office and replace them with a PMR. Can they do this? The office has 2 full and 1 aux city route and 1 full and 1 intermediate rural route with about 250 po boxes. The window hours are currently 745am-430pm and is open during lunch. They are going to cut the window hours down, which I agree needs done a little. The PM is expected to work 630am-430pm with a two hour lunch and do all distribution/po box and window duties in addition to all administrative duties. The PM job was posted 730-430. Wouldn't the APWU have a strong case to retain the PTF in the office? I have major concerns having a PMR in charge of an office this size when the PM is on leave etc. Any opinions?

P.S.-The average function 4 budgets of 6-7 level 18 offices in the area is 2400 hours, this office's budget is 516 hours.

Opinion #1
They will probably drop the level of that post office.
I'm a PMR in a level 13 with a route and about 300 p o boxes. No DPS.
Yes, a PMR can do the job as well as a PM.
The PM better get ready to work his a$$ off.

sorry to interrupt your question but I'm wondering how office levels are determined? I am a carrier in a level 18 which has way more routes than the number mentioned in /m3677. We have 10 full rural routes and 1 aux. 6 full city and 1 aux. I don't know how many PO boxes but I'd guess about 750-1000. There's a lot. The window is always busy and is high revenue. We're open till 8 (or 8:30 can't remember). Not closed for lunch.

Must be a wide range of busy-ness for level 18s!

Without knowing the actual numbers, I'd say it sounds to me like a level 20. 16 routes and a big box section.

post 3677. They are doing this like this everywhere. Only difference this is the first that I heard of in the 18. In my district the hours are allotted so poorly. SOme 18's are way over budgeteted, others aren't. In almost ALL 18 and below, they are trying to cut the retail hours in my district. They are even trying to close our window retail on saturdays on many 18s nd below. EVERY 15 office is being proposed to close window on saturday and shrink retail during the week, take every clerk hour and excess every ptf clerk in 15's and below. The catch is, it is not uniform even within our district. Our POOM is wanting to do this to nearly 50 offices under him. The other to POOMs' combined want to do it to half that number. Our POOM is trying to make him self look good and really ruin the customer service in some of these offices. And what botheres me th most, is there is no ryhme or reason to what offices he is selecting. I am in a very busy 15. Or revenue is double that of the nearest 18., It is also more that another neihboring 15. They want to close us on saturday and shrick our reatail hours, but not touch the 18 down the road. THey have 2 ptf's there and they don't earn enough hours for having two. They won't excess a clerk or change the hours, but they want to do it to us. Our box section is 2-3 times there size, and window traffic is double theres. They have 2 more routes(Than are small), and they are untouchable. If there was some consistency here, and some basic logic used in the way they did these things maybe people wouldn't get so upset. And 1 POOM should not have so much control. Not every district is doing this.

Yes, there is a lot of unfairness in the allotted hours, that's clear to see. New workhour budgets in our area came out today. They were brutal. I am still in shock. And as you say, my neighboring office did not get cut as badly. I have double their po boxes, but they have another route.
We haven't seen cutting of window hours in our area yet. That is ridiculous--cut customer service and raise rates, which you know they will do in May--we are just doing ourselves out of business.
