Without knowing the actual numbers, I'd say it sounds to me like a level 20. 16 routes and a big box section.

sorry to interrupt your question but I'm wondering how office levels are determined? I am a carrier in a level 18 which has way more routes than the number mentioned in /m3677. We have 10 full rural routes and 1 aux. 6 full city and 1 aux. I don't know how many PO boxes but I'd guess about 750-1000. There's a lot. The window is always busy and is high revenue. We're open till 8 (or 8:30 can't remember). Not closed for lunch. Must be a wide range of busy-ness for level 18s!

Opinion #1 They will probably drop the level of that post office. I'm a PMR in a level 13 with a route and about 300 p o boxes. No DPS. Yes, a PMR can do the job as well as a PM. The PM better get ready to work his a$$ off.

I know of a level 18 office nearby that used to have 1 full time clerk and 1 PTF. The full time was excessed this year leaving only the PTF. Now the district is attempting to excess the only clerk in the office and replace them with a PMR. Can they do this? The office has 2 full and 1 aux city route and 1 full and 1 intermediate rural route with about 250 po boxes. The window hours are currently 745am-430pm and is open during lunch. They are going to cut the window hours down, which I agree needs done a little. The PM is expected to work 630am-430pm with a two hour lunch and do all distribution/po box and window duties in addition to all administrative duties. The PM job was posted 730-430. Wouldn't the APWU have a strong case to retain the PTF in the office? I have major concerns having a PMR in charge of an office this size when the PM is on leave etc. Any opinions?
P.S.-The average function 4 budgets of 6-7 level 18 offices in the area is 2400 hours, this office's budget is 516 hours.

Yeah, but...all us postmasters under the PFP have such pitiful scores due to the decline in revenue that they won't have to give any of us raises. I would assume after this batch of early out employees go that they will then re-evaluate all offices and cut positions where possible and move those people to the vacancies made by those who have left. Lots of changes are coming, I believe. Yes, it is disappointing that Potter was untruthful. Who knows what to believe now.

Did you know? The Post Office budget for the PFP Program (bonus program) is $2 billion per fiscal year. They will begin pay out on the PFP in the Fall. See how crooked they are.

I say to all the unions or employees we should offer all managers $15,000 to resign so this company can get rid of the dead weight that as got us in this mess, so we can run this business like the real service it was meant to be. misunderstood Carrier | 08.26.09 - 1:37 pm | #

It should be more obvious NOW than EVER. When the leader of the organization can candidly LIE to employees with 20++ years in and not bat an eye you know what you are dealing with. This company is DOOMED. The morale is going to plummet now that they made this offer to some and not others. Lies and deceit will eventually bring any company down. Since August 2008 (the first VER offer) Potter has been crying there is NO MONEY for incentives!!
The second VER offer came and again the same message: No MONEY for incentives!!!
Suddenly,....out of nowhere POTTER manages to find money??? Yeah right. WHAT A FRICKEN LIAR!!!! This is a clear indication of the type of person who is running this organization. And yet Obama wonders why the USPS can't be more efficient like UPS and FEDx? Maybe the CEO's of those companies are a tad more "HONEST" with their employees rather than manipulating them with dishonest tactics. POTTER you are a disgrace to the human race and should step down from your position immediately. POTTER STEP DOWN !!!!! | 08.25.09 - 9:42 pm | #

Say that 30,000 workers actually takes this offer/incentive...you mean to tell me the post office has $300,000,000(30,000 x $10,000)to pay out in the next month after claiming they may not be able to make payroll by fiscal years end? Where's the money coming from? I smell a rat??? What's up with that???? took vera last time | 08.25.09 - 11:21 pm | #

/m3666 your "but my workload is almost more by the increase of reports and checklists and checklists to prove I did the checklists" IS because the areas have added dozens and dozens of analysts to analyze your reports and they need to look busy! during the area re-org NO-ONE lost a position they became analysts!

Absolutely true. The micromanaging is out of control. We have less mail and less revenue but my workload is almost more by the increase of reports and checklists and checklists to prove I did the checklists. The latest for us...they are cutting custodial hours. The office is the same size, same amount of dirt. They are cutting from the bottom up. I agree that cutting service and raising prices is not any way to save a business, but what do I know? I am just a lowly micromanaged puppet.
