Do you get the Morning Report and the USPS News Link? This was reported in both of those emails. The USPS News Link is available at www.liteblue.usps.gov. You will need your USPS Employee ID Number and password.

It is not definite that they are going to close them. They are studying it.
STATION, BRANCH OPTIMIZATION USPS STUDIES RETAIL NETWORK, OFFICE CONSOLIDATIONS The Postal Service currently is examining the possible consolidation of delivery and retail functions among some of its larger (EAS-24 and above) stations and branches. This follows aggressive cost-control measures already taken, such as adjusting carrier routes, consolidating various mail-processing and tour operations, and restructuring administrative functions.
According to DPMG and COO Pat Donahoe, the survey will identify opportunities to consolidate primarily those stations and branches that are located near each other and that due to changing operational processes have excess floor space.

I get the morning report but you can't believe everything you read there because it's just the newspapers and they got a few things wrong. Finally we got an email from district manager explaining that it was level 24 office station and branches. It just would have been nice if they had said something to us before it hit that papers as it not only panics some employees, but customers also.

Take it from someone on the inside. Late this summer you will see Post Offices across the nation closed in a cost saving measure that will ultimately lead to privitization. Starting with level 55 and then 11 and then 13's. By 2010 the smallest office nationwide will be a level 15 and it will not be manned by a PM. Just a clerk from the nearest level 18 office. All level 18's are FLSA exempt or soon will be. Think not? Just hang loose and watch the smoke rise.
