You're probably wondering: How, if the Computex network
had crashed were you able to get this story posted?
The network really wasn't working. And you couldn't use any of the press office PCs so kindly provided by Shuttle and others. And you couldn't even plug your PC into the LAN using a cable. And no
of course there wasn't any wireless network.
The answer?
A completely obsolete Vodafone GPRS data card. I had it for evaluation, and when the new vodafone 3G data card arrived naturally, I put the old one aside. But luck! - I put it in my pocket. And when I found the 3G card didn't work here in Taiwan, I thought: "I'll just give the old one a try..."
...it worked...!
