Hello everyone,
I just received word that Camille Mason's husband Dri died yesterday!  I don't have any details yet, and I haven't been able to contact her on the phone.  I would imagine Russ Johns and "Herb's News" will be putting forth information ASAP regarding the date of the funeral etc.

Camille and I used to talk quite frequently on the phone, and without fail, she would always tell me how happy she was, and how lucky we both were to have found "our guys" at such a late time in our lives!  Just a few days ago we made plans to get together as soon as the weather warmed up, and they were going to spend a weekend with Gene and I out here in the country relaxing by our pool, and enjoying some of the restaurants in our area.  Sadly those plans now won't include Dri in the future.  Camille told me that the two & a half years she has been married to Dri have been the happiest of her whole life.  I know she will appreciate hearing from all of you.

Her address is.....  Camille Mason Dreiboldt
3525 Turtle Creek Blvd.  Apt. 18D
                              Dallas, Texas
                              75219
I will keep you updated as I receive information myself.

Non-Rev Updating:
If you want to continue using your non-rev privileges you must update your status via jetnet by Dec 31 06. When you get into jetnet, click on "Traveler Planner." A "pop-up" should appear. Then, simply click on "accept." If pop-up does not appear, from what I understand, you have already met this requirement. Any questions, contact me at drjohns831@aol.com. Plz. pass on to those you know who don't have computer or are computer inept. THX! Russ

Greetings,
Sorry to report my computer has been on the blink re: e-mails. Learned last Thurs. at Kiwi meeting that Lesley had passed away. Sad! She put up such a battle. Anyway, this is the latest, so wanted to pass it on in case you didn't know.
Russ

Dear All,

Lesley has been cremated and will be taken to Ohio at a later date.

A Memorial service will be Sunday, October 29th, at Brust Funeral Home, 415 No. Gary Avenue, Carol Stream, Illinois (630-510-0044). Memorial visitation is from 2PM until time of Service at 5PM.

Hi everyone,

I have changed my website address to
http://www.babyhomepages.net/melaniesbigcjourney

I am trying to change the way the stories are listed so that you don't have to go to the bottom of the page to see the most recent ones. It is a bit tricky so be patient with me.
Once you add this one to your favorites/bookmarks you can delete the old one.

All of you that volunteered for the pre sales did a great job. You should post it in this web site to let other retirees be aware of it. Am sure they would be interested. You are right~~ what is with the baby website???

Good morning Russ,

Kathy Kridel sent the study to me as well but I'm glad you forwarded it to me anyway because I have been trying to email you for the last few days and I always received it back that it was the wrong address.
I'm not sure what is going on with my email program but maybe you'll receive this one.

Would you be so kind as to include my webpage address in your next email to the CR Honey Buns and also if you still have contact with the company if there would be anyway for you to send it to Carlos Castillejo so that he could put out the word in an HI6.

Michelle Simon set this page up for me for any of my friends who would like to keep up with my progress.
I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance in case you are able to do it. The address is
http://www.babyhomepages.com/melaniesjournal.

You might want to add that it could be added to any one's favorites list to avoid the hassle of typing in the whole address each time.

Thanks again,

To the retirees who are unaale to get email from American on Lesley Shaw's progress. Here is an update. She is on the Rehab floor, at Lutheran General, in a back brace that goes from her waist up her back. I spoke with her Mom the other day. She will have to have radiation and chemo once she is recovered and strong enough. Some of the tumor had to be left at/or near her spine. No calls or visitors are allowed at this time. Lesley is in a lot of pain. As one can only imagine. She has been thru so much. As always, keep her in your prayers. Thanks to all of you. Kathy Coffman

Two days ago I spoke with Lesley Shaw's sister, Jennifer. Lesley has just had surgery on her spine. She went into Emergency Surgery Mon. or Tues. for a cancerous tumor on her spine. She just got out of Intensive Care. From there, she will remain in hospital and then rehab. Les has been a very courageous woman, and gone thru so much in the last five years. Her Mom and sister do not want visitors or cards sent to the hospital just yet. Les is in terrible pain, and isn't up for company. The cards can be sent to her home address, 336 Elmwood Lane, Bloomingdale, Il 60108. Let us all keep her in our prayers. Thanks, Kathy

Hi,
After I sent out a msg. re: Capt. Frank Street on the AA News group e-mail, I received many responses from other F/A's. Just received this info. from Herb Dabelow's AA group e-mail. Will also post this info. on the C.R. Honeybuns website.
Russ

Dear Mr. Dabelow,

Bob Oliver says you're the "go-to" guy for disseminating info to and
about the retired AA'ers.

I know you've received notice of the CarePage I put up online for
Frank and Peggy and we sure appreciate your sharing of that info.

I know there are lots of people interested in how Frank is progressing and this
CarePage seems like a good way to keep folks informed - and to let them get
word back to Frank while he's away from his personal email.

Thank you for your help!

This is an email from Ginger:
If you are a retiree who funds your Supplemental Insurance Program through HEALTH FIRST, be aware of a last minute change in premium payment...in the fall, Health First sent out a notice offering automatic bank drafts for the premiums, which many of us filled out and sent in. It was in lieu of paying the $60 annual premium by check, a bill for which had been sent out on September 22nd. They told us we could ignore the bill, fill out the bank draft info, and it would automatically be deducted from our bank account each January in the future...we wouldn't need to remember to pay the bill by mail from now on. Well, they have now reversed course, and sent out a message saying we have to pay the bill by mail after all, the bank drafts are no good. That premium payment is due on JANUARY 31st! It is the front and center story on the Jetnet Homepage for retirees. If, when you access Jetnet, you glance at the main story on the homepage, and don't see it, it's because the homepage cycles through 3 or 4 stories as you look at it...so click on "previous stories" until it comes up. The number to call to get your premium straightened out at Health First is 1-800 711-7083. Follow the prompts to customer service. I've been told they are supposed to contact us by mail to notify us of all this, so be on the lookout for it. Ginger Gainer

Greetings fellow colleagues & friends & Happy New Year to all of you!
Just received this message from Carol (Bailey) Jones regarding Susan Connors & Mary Lou Falica & had to pass it on. I consider these two ladies very cherished friends, & couldn't be happier for them.
CHEERS to them, & please join me in wishing them the very best in health, happiness, success, & good fortune in their future years. I have oh so many wonderful memories of flying & laying over with them (especially Phoenix & Paris). If you know them or have ever had the extreme luck to have flown with them, you know exactly what I mean!
That's it. Ciao for now, & may you & yours reap the harvest of a wonderful 2006. Take care.

A very happy new year to all!
Received word that Susan Connors and Mary Lou Falica have joined the ranks of RETIREES! And have relocated as well. With Susan's permission here is her new info:
Mrs. Susan Connors

Rio Verde, AZ 85263

Mary Lou just arrived safely last night. She completed her solo drive from Illinois to Arizona in two and half short days! Is that a record?
Until she is settled in her own place, she will be bunking in Susan's casita!

I know you all join me in wishing these ladies the very best in their retirement and new city.

It seems that the holidays bring us many happy tidings, but unfortunately some sad ones as well.
Just got word that Kay Fasano's husband was killed in a car accident. They were in NJ visiting their daughter. He went for a walk after dinner and was hit by a car. No details as of yet. Will keep you posted. The office has been advised. Please pass it on. They will need lots of prayers. That is about all we can do right now.
Also, Valerie Smith, now retired, has lost her husband to cancer. Will call Gloria Herrera to find out more info. & will pass it on.

Hi to all who still read any messages on this web site. I like Pat Avery seem to have too many things going on at once or I have lost my ability to get all of the things done that I want to get done. On that note I am asking for any information about new retirees. I haven't updated the phone list since July partly because I keep taking two steps back for each one forward and partly because I haven't received much information from anywhere. Eloise and Russell send me stuff now and than, but the web site from AA hasn't been updated since April. If anyone has any inof please e-mail me with it--sammyeb1@juno.com I will try to get the list updated as soon as possible. Thanks.
And to Pat Avery, if you are reading this I haven't forgotten you. I am going to mail out the present list tomorrow and will update you as soon as possible. Sammye
Hope everyone is doing well and still enjoying retirement...

Hope you are doing well. I'm enjoying retirement but,
I think I have joined too many activities for all my
days are so very busy! Glad I don't have to worry
about work & commuting to ORD.
Still sunny & warm here in TUS which is nice. Take
care,
Pat Avery

Greetings my dear Colleagues,
Talked to Gloria Herrera last night; she has just returned from saying good-bye to her mother. Although, still having difficulties accepting her loss, she told me how touched she was by the numerous notes of sympathy she received from all her friends. Being very computer-iliterate, she asked me to thank each & every one of you for your heart-felt thoughts. So for her, thank you, my dear friends, for thinking of me at this time.
Much love,
Gloria Herrera

Golden Wings can be reached at 800-521-2510, but it is my understanding that you have to purchase their insurance within a month (or two) of retiring in order to qualify. After you purchase their $600,000 supp policy you are then able to sign up for their dental policy, which I understand is far superior to the dental policy that AA offers retirees.

For new retirees you need to send a copy of the letter that AA (United Health Care) sent you attesting to the amount of your American Airlines Pre-Funded Retiree Medical Insurance to: 389 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209
Peggy Sutherlin  134
05-24-2005 02:30 PM ET (US)
Susan Harrigan is correct. Golden Wings is used when one exhausts their AMR insurance. One must buy the basic medical inorder to buy the dental. (Consider the dental as a rider to the basic) However, their dental insurance is great. I can find no better dental. My decision was to buy the basic, just so I could have the dental. I spend about $1,000 yearly for dental care, so I break even with the medical and dental premiums. But, if I ever exhaust my AMR I would have that extra medical, that I might not otherwise be able to buy.

It is my understanding that Golden Wings medical is not supplemental other than if we completely run out of AAL's I do have dental which I find to be good--I took them both out as soon as I retired. You can't get dental without medical. Anyone to whom I've spoken about them seems to like them Susan Harrigan

For those of you who keep your retiree phone list current I have to apologize for not keeping up with the changes for you. I have had a rough winter as my mother passes away during the holidays. For awhile I just didn't do much and than I tried to post the changes two or three times and my computer kept closing me out. Too many changes and the list was just too long, I guess. Since I am not that up on what to do with the computer I just let it go. Than I had to plan the memorial for my mother. That was a bit time comsuming since I wanted it to be just right. Well that is behind me now and I do have many changes to the phone list. If you are interested in receiving these changes e-mail me and I will get them to you . I know a lot of you don't like revisions any more than I do so haven't kept up with the list so I won't go on and on and on. Hope everyone is well and that you are still enjoying retirement as much as I am. Can hardly believe it's been 2 years already. Take care and good luck to Kate Pantorillo. Dear Current and Former AA Flight Attendants-

We are writing this message to let you know about a new e-mail group that is being formed. Susan Boe, Ann Clark-Durkin and Jerry Loomis have been talking about the need for all of us, both current FAs and former FA retirees, to share our knowledge and experience related to retirement, both preparing for it and actually living as a retiree. For this purpose, we have created the AAFA-Retirement e-mail group, and we are inviting everyone who is interested to join.

If you would like to join the AAFA-Retirement e-mail group, send a message to AAFA-Retirement-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

For those of you who are current subscribers to the Baseline e-mail groups, this new group will work exactly the same way as the Baselines. For those who have never used an e-mail group before, once you are a subscriber to the group, you will be able to receive e-mail from other subscribers. Any message which is sent to the group address ( AAFA-Retirement@yahoogroups.com) is automatically sent to every subscriber. If you reply to one of these messages, your message is also sent to everyone (not just to the person who sent the original message). In this way, you are able to read what everyone else is writing, and are able to both ask and answer questions from other FAs, and offer observations about a given topic. This is a very efficient medium for us to share our questions, concerns and personal experiences about a very important area of our lives.

Even though our initial "membership" for this group will probably be centered in Southern California, we decided that we should create an e-mail group separate from the Baselines groups. Not everyone who belongs to the Baselines will be interested in retirement questions and issues, and eventually FAs from all over the system will probably be interested in joining this group, so it seemed better to start a separate group just for this purpose.

The immediate focus of the AAFA Retirement group will be the upcoming retirement classes in April. These meetings are scheduled for LAX on Wednesday, April 20 (in the Flight Service Training Room) at 9:00AM and 3:00PM, and in SAN on Thursday, April 21, also at 9:00AM and 3:00PM (in the USO Facility at Lindbergh Field - where the old baggage claim area was). The meeting in San Diego would not have been possible without the space provided free of charge by the USO, a non-profit organization assisting our military personnel, and a tax deductible donation to the United Service Organization would be greatly appreciated.

Several retirement specialists will be attending these meetings:

Linda Wetherspoon - AA Retirement Counselor
Wes Ramsey - AA Credit Union
Jill Frank and other APFA Representatives

If you are planning to attend any of these meetings, you will need to call Lisa Gustaferro at 310-215-7000 to reserve a place (seating is limited). When you talk to Lisa, let her know which city (LAX Apr 20th or SAN Apr 21st) and which meeting (AM or PM); also give her your employee number, your base and phone number. We'd like to know where you are based so we can show AA that they need to send important messages announcing things like these retirement meetings system-wide.

Also, IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO RETIRE SOON (on or before July 2005), you will need to schedule an individual appointment to meet with the specialist to complete paperwork in order to retire properly. Ask Lisa to make this appointment for you.

You can schedule an individual appointment with Wes Ramsey, Financial Advisor with the Credit Union. Please call his office to schedule this appointment (Wesley Ramsey, AAFCU Financial Services, Tulsa, OK 74133, 918-254-3588 / 800-533-0035 x43588).

Mark your calendars today, and start preparing yourself for these meetings. In the next few weeks, join the AAFA-Retirement group, and share your questions with other FAs in the group. In this way, we can start to educate each other about the areas of concern before the meetings, and we will better understand the important issues facing us as retirees. Again, if you would like to join the AAFA-Retirement e-mail group, send an e-mail to AAFA-Retirement-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Susan Boe 858-454-8544 sboe1@san.rr.com
Annie Clark-Durkin 858-538-4974 airlineannie@san.rr.com
Jerry Loomis 619-665-7835 Baselines@cox.net

PS: A technical note--we have decided to allow that attachments be sent with messages on the AAFA-Retirement e-mail group. On the Baseline groups, attachments have not been allowed, as a security precaution to cut down on virus attachments. Because so much information related to retirement is contained in charts and articles from news sources and websites, we have decided that it is important to allow these messages to be sent as attachments on the AAFA-Retirement e-mail group. It is important that we make it easy for us to share this type of information; if it turns out that we have a problem, we can always change this setting later. (You should have updated anti-virus software installed on your computer to protect yourself from viruses--you are probably already getting spam e-mail with viruses attached every day, and you need to protect your computer.)

Hi!
Was going to send this tomorrow a.m., but couldn't wait...know you'll all want to receive this.
Great news! Many of you have made inquiries about Jonii & being able to contact her. Well here's the latest...Had a phone call from Jonii & all is super A-OK. Like me, however, she's having problems with AA Medical---mine with the doctor at the time, hers with the staff as they have lost her documentation from her doctors permitting her to return to flying. Told her to keep a stiff upper lip & keep after them.
Anyway, she said she's doing great, has put on a little weight (good, 'cause I don't think anyone will notice!) & is ready to go back. She let out that she wants to fly only 4 more months & then she will join the rest of us retirees (BUT, THAT'S ON THE Q.T., SO DON'T SPREAD IT AROUND!).
She sounded just great, really up, & very anxious to get all this "hoo-haa" behind her. Got her permission to send out her address, so if you've been holding off, here it is:
    Ms. Jonii R. Patterson
    3825 Prairie Lane
    Bettendorf, Iowa 52772
    (563) 332-0884
    e-mail: JoniiRP123@aol.com
Know she would love hearing from you & your best wishes. Keep her in your prayers, & with that, she will see her desires realized. Hope you are as excited about this news as I am!

Retired FA Pauline Smith died last week in Gadston, Alabama. I first knew Pauline in SFO in the early 1960's, She was one of those fired at age 32. Our regional VP Elmo Coon, a very nice man, gave her a ground job, so she maintaned continous employment with AA until her retirement about 2000. I was the base chair in 1968, when the contract changed, and those aged 33 after July 1964, were recalled.I still remember the thrill of calling her to tell her she would be recalled. Pauline had previously been based in BNA. Her last base was IDF.

I just learned that Yumi Phillips died this past summer. No one knows exactly when because her husband did not notify AAL. Does anyone have any information? I am very saddened to hear this news.

I haven't sent any new messages in regards to the phone list because I've been trying to figure out how to send multiple e-mail messages. Alas I didn't get the deed done--my inability to catch on to these new fangled things. Russ Johns has come to me rescue and he has agreed to e-mail all of you that purchased phone lists. They should be out there soon. Until I can figure out the mechanics of my computer I will add the updates to our web site. Hope all is well with all of you and that you are still enjoying your retirement as much as I am.
There are a couple of get togethers coming up. One that Jody Miller told me about. It's at The Ice Bar downtown in Chicago in October. She is supposed to post a note on this web site. The charge is $25.00 for a lite meal (subs, salads and chips) and a cash bar. If you need more information please contact her. Also Eloise Smith is working on an evening at Drury Lane. The cost is $50 and includes a theatre ticket, a glass of wine, dinner, tax and tip. I believe she has arranged a hotel room discount nearby. She will be mailing flyers to all retirees. It is is February and is a fund raise for Wings. Contact Eloise for more information.

Hello Peggy, et al. It was good to hear from you. Since running into you in New Orleans, I've had some excitement in my life. August 4, 2004, I married that handsome guy I introduced you to in the airport. My husband's name is Robert Caruso and we'll be living in Dallas for about a year until we move to New Orleans. He is from there and has lots of fun family. So, for you, and all my dear flying friends, know that you will always have a friend to call when you are in NOLA for fun, food, and of course, Mardi Gras! I'd like to attend those luncheons in Dallas, too! Kathy Crockett Caruso ;-)

I am enjoying the good life in Dallas, based in SFO 1961-1991,(MAC 1969-1973) then IDF 1992-1998. In Dallas the local paper covers the APFA problems, that have been occurring since 1979. I attend a montly luncheon with retired FAs, organized by Ruthie Burch) And yes, Kathy Crockett, I remember you withgreat fondness,> The luncheon is attended by about 20, including Ruthie Hogg, Peggy Allen, Julie Redmond, Judy Smith, Nancy Hines, Judy Haag, (Patt Gibbs still appears)._

The SILVER STRIPES of Chicago are active and retired pilots, flight engineers, and operations personnel all over age 55. On Sept. 14th at noon, they will have their annual Fly-In/Drive-In Picnic at Casa De Aero Airport in Hampshire, at Tom and Elaine Reany's home. All active and retired flight attendants are invited, and encouraged to attend to "renew" old friendships. Donation is $15 per person for food and refreshments. Make check out to The Silver Stripes for the correct amount (spouses or significant other are also invited), and mail to Capt. Herb Dabelow by Sept.4, at 1528 Burberry Ln., Schaumburg, Il. 60173. Also bring your own lawn chair. It's always loads of fun! For more info call me at 815/923-2412, or Herb Dabelow at 847/605-1809.

Just read in today's (Friday July 2) NEW YORK TIMES that UAL will probably be turning over their FA pension to the PBGC. AAL was not mentioned in this article but I encourage all of you to go on-line to read it or go out and buy the paper. It is located in the Business Section. You would think that they would go after the pilot pension but, apparently, that fund is doing well. Hope all of you are having a great summer. Would anyone be willing to organize a C. R. Honeybun Camp for next summer?? Maybe a long weekend at the beach or or a lake somewhere? We could bring our sleeping bags and spend some quality time with each other. If enough of us participated, it wouldn't cost that much. Any ideas???

Hi All,
I'm sure that you've all received a letter from AA regarding their taking advantage of the Pension Funding Equity Act, recently signed by President Bush. This has the potential of seriously affecting our futures as retirees. It is unfair, and favors big business over the rights of the people. I have just sent email messages to President Bush, to my two Senators and to my Congressman, stating my upset at the signing of this Act, and asking their support. PLEASE take a moment to contact your Representatives. It's important to us all!!!!!!!!!

I think this extra money comes from an investigation by a F/A's husband on how AA was figuring our pension. I await my notification. I definitely need more money -- it cost me $75 today in Biarritz for a manicure-pedicure. I need to haul over some Vietnamese, don't you think?

I received a letter from AAL yesterday informing me that I have been "underpaid" for my retirement to the tune of about $100 a month. They deposited the $100 into my account today for the month of May and will deposit the rest in the next few weeks. I would have never known if they hadn't been so honest. Maybe I should take back all those nasty things I've said about Centerport. On second thought I don't think I will! Hope some of you out there received the same good news.

THANKS SAMMYE!!!!!!!!

This was a forward from one of my emailers from DCA. Thought some of you would be interested.

Flight attendants from several different airlines, including an AA JFK flight attendant will be on Tom Brokaw NBC Nightly News on Tuesday or Wednesday night. They are discussing things, such as our lack of defense training. So, please tune in and tell every flight attendant you know.

A post script to my lengthy note--My fingers just went too fast for me to keep up with. It was Karen, not Daren that had such a great party. Sorry Karen, hopefully I'll do better next time.

Hi all. Thanks to Peggy. How woderful you are to set this up and I, too love the name. Brings back many great memories of all of our fellow F/A's. It certainly was great at the luncheon and at the "Hostess with the Mostest" Daren D's beautiful home. Thanks Karen. I can't wait to see everyone at the next event. I will be at Arlington Park, but not sure about the picnicyet. Hope to make it to both. The IOR/ORD retiree phone/info list is complete and ready to be mailed. For those of you who have already purchased one it will be in the mail tomorrow. For anyone wanting the list please contact me at 119 Higman Park, Benton Harbor, Mi. or via e-mail: sammyeb1@juno.com or by phone 269-926-8715. The cost is $5.00. If any of you hear of retirees that I have missed or new ones please let me know. I have quite a few names that I have no information for at all and would appreciate any further help for them. I guess I just can't stop putting phone lists together. Thanks again to Karen and Peggy and hi to all.

  Forwarded message from Pam Sandberg:
I wanted everyone to know I just spoke with Jonii's daughter, Misha, and she gave me some
very good news. Jonii is out of ICU and feeling better. The family requests PLEASE no phone calls
as she still tires easily. As soon as she is strong enough, Jonii will be calling all her friends. However,
she is able to receive flowers, books, magazines, or any special treat that flight attendants are so
clever in doing for friends. Misha said the family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Love not going to work anymore but I still have dreams about missing trips and running down airport halls and getting on airplanes I never saw befoe and saying "I shouldn't be here. I'm retired!"

Congrats to all who made this F/A reunion happen and I will surely have another glass of French Red tonight to thank Peggy and Karen! Retirement for me came on 3/1/04 along with selling our SF house and moving to France. We are currently living in Biarritz while we wait to occupy a newly puchased home in the Provence. Wish me luck -- I am going from living in the heart of San Francisco to a village of 2000 people! Yes, of course, EVERYONE is welcome to visit and Michael and I really do look forward to entertaining you --anyone ready for a bicycle tour?? Love, Casey

Hi All,
I just received a call from IOR FA, Pat Isner. She was calling from ORD, and had just spoken to Debbie Carvatta about Jonii. She was told that Jonii is not at all in the condition that we had heard she is in. Supposedly, she's in pretty good shape. Pat told me that Debbie had said that they only put her in ICU, because she would not follow their instructions, ie. drinking lot of water, etc. Let's hope this news is accurate.

Peggy, this is outstanding, now that the blue curtain has been taken down it is hard to get the news. The galley wall has fallen. Karen sorry I could not attend the party but I was going to NRT and then became illegal at about 3:00 and sent home. Please keep me on the e-mail list.
Take care everyone
