From what i have read so far in the book it seems as if someone is indirectly leading and keeping order of the children. It is as if Piggy is helping the children survive by getting the essentials together. For example on page 15 Piggy notes to Ralph that they should find the others and should setup some sort of order in order to survive. He says, "how many of us are there?," and, "we got to do something". All of this sparked the idea for Ralph to be a leader figure. Piggy also notes that they are stranded on an island and they may be stuck on it for the rest of their lives. Ralph brings this issue up during the beginning of chapter two. The idea was to set up some sort of signal and wait for help. Piggy noting that one of the children was still stuck in the fire caused by their smoke signal. this kind of got the rest of the kids thinking that they should be more considerate and look out for each other. It is a shame that no one listens to Piggy, becuase he would make a great leader. Both Ralph and Jack seem to me to be wannabe leaders, this of course may cause the two of them to rival each other. this has already been seen when Jack began to persuade the children to follow him into the mountains instead of letting Ralph finish what he was saying during the meeting in chapter two. As Andrew said, they will most likely follow the person that has the best idea at the current time which in turn may cause one leader to conflict the other.

Ardiana, this is worth one point extra credit plus ten points regular credit for posting a question and 10 points for replying to someone's question. As for Simon, the narrator says something about his eyes in terms of what Ralph thinks he sees in them. It is just a brief description, but I want you to interpret what you think it means.
