Bill - a thought on Young's Syndrome. Have you considered it might not be the caffeine, but the tannin? Tannin retards digestion and is present in both coffee and tea. I can't find anything on allergies to tannin, so it might not be something the doctors have considered? In your case, tannin may be doing its job too well....
Something to look into, maybe?....
