another way to do it is a great little program called MPEG Streamclip. You can have it demux the stream or convert the MPEG2 to high quality Quicktime Movie file (or whatever file you prefer). I use it on a daily basis to convert files to edit in Final Cut and it has saved several projects. It's also free-ware like ffmpegX.
