Sounds alot like what another friend suggested:

I have used a tool called FFMpeg to demux mpeg-2 files (recorded using an ATI card) so they could be imported into DVD studio (as separate video and audio tracks).
Works great, although mpeg-2 is not really a very good format for editing, more of a 'final destination'
