Pam The dates are usually not announced until the end of the year or the beginning of next year. As soon as they find out it will be posted on the Kitz and Katz website. K&K is a very popular program. I'm sure they appreciate your compliment! I know they are only a handful of all volunteers that organize this service for the public. People get frustrated that they can't get in the clinics. If more people could volunteer they could possibly hold more clinics through out the year. With the 6 or so clinics that are held each year the appointments literally are booked in just hours. The key is to get on their website as early as possible the first day they begin taking appointments and grab a spot, which could mean booking it at 1 in the morning. I have gotten in at the last minute by repeatedly checking their website to see if anyone canceled. I have noticed the last couple of days before the clinic is to be held people will cancel. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Sorry to be so rash. My husband and I both lost jobs(thanks to the economy) right before out kittens turned 6 months old. So we have been trying to play catch up and the $192 my vet charges me is out of the question. I have a male and a female(more concerned about the female considering I have two new visitors to my home lately), so I need to get her done as soon as possible. I will check out the programs. Thanks again.

Amy,
You were not rash at all. I am so glad you and hubby are keeping your two kittens. Some people take their pets to the SPCA when monies become tight. I do hope you find reasonable spay/neuter very soon. I had two tame males fixed at the Kitz & Katz clinic on Sunday. They were busy, busy. Wow, those volunteers are so friendly and efficient. And PAWS fixed two of my ferals last Friday. Paws is such a lifesaver for ferals, since most ferals are of mystery sex, especially medium long hair ones. Cannot tell if male of female. Looking at the papers on all four , all done by Dr. Matthew Murphy. Bless you Dr. Murphy I also hope our local vets are not heading towards hard times.

If you click go on the Kitz and Katz website there are links to SNAP and PAWS website. They have spay neuter clinics every month. K&K is only able to do around 6 a year because they are such a small group of volunteers. I heard Sunday's clinic went well fixing over 100 cats. WOW! What a great thing they do.

Very nice of SHAGS (Groomers) to donate the use of their facility for Kitz and Katz. They are very community oriented!

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if Kitz and Katz do declawing while the cat is being spayed? If not if there is anywhere I get a discounted price on this?

Michelle, no they don't declaw. I don't know of any place that does it at a discount either. Let us know if you do.

Are the dates set for 2009 yet? Just want too make sure I am early..lol. I am also interested in volunteering. I can do pretty much anything, from administrative, website to helping with the clinics.
