It seems the long wait in between spay/neuter clinics is falling just short for the outside female we have been caring for. She just went into heat last week and at least 3 males are around the house not giving her any rest. She will not let me get her into my garage and with 7 inside cats, bringing her in anywhere but the garage is out of the question.
If she is a couple weeks pregnant, from now until the next clinic at the end of Feb. '10, can she still be spayed?? Or am I going to have to wait AGAIN and find homes for another batch of little ones? HELP!!

Deb, I think they like you to keep female cats that live outside 24/48 hours or as long as you can inside. Bathroom, shed, mud room, or where ever you can to keep her from running around and opening the stitches up or getting it infected. Also it's important to let her rest and get the anastasia out of her system, which the cold weather will make her weaker. Although if you have no choice to let her out right away that is better then having litters of kittens. Call K&K and see what they say. Good luck.

What recovery is needed after fixing a female? She is an outside cat. Do I just bring her home and set her free? February seems pretty cold for that. But by March, she could be pregnant!

RDC, it looks to me that the dates on the K&K board are from 2009. The date beneath the van photo looks to be acurate for the first clinic of the year. I was told K&K was hoping to have the first clinic on Feb 28th. I hope this helps.

Soooooo.....the dates listed are ...accurate? Or is the next clinic actually the one beneath the van photo for the last week of February? Clarify, please, and Thanks!

Jessica, The next clinic should be some time in February. The dates will be posted when they are confirmed with the Vet. Probably a clinic once a month Feb-May and two in the fall.

Will Kitz & Katz have 2010 spay and neuter clinics? If so, does anyone know when they post the calendar? I want to get my boy fixed. I couldn't make it last yr. Thanks in advance.

I have a friend that too in a cat that was dropped off at his wife's work. When they took her in they knew that she was pregnant. They have found homes for that litter. They made an appointment to have the cat fixed, but she had already gotten pregnant again. She has since given birth to the kittens, but now she has gone missing. My friend lives on a farm and has checked everywhere for her. The kittens are now 3 weeks old and motherless. They both work, and cannot give them the care they need to survive. they have been bottle feeding them. If you are someone that can take care of four kittens that need to be bottle fed, please e-mail me at iamjustinsgirl@yahoo.com. Even if you cannot care for all of them, if you can give one of these precious kittens a fighting chance at survival please contact me.
thanks,
Kimberly

linda, since the youngest k&k will fix a cat is 12 weeks old your mama cat should be dry of milk by then. the kittens can stop nursing anytime between 6-8 weeks old. once you see the kittens eating on their own the kittens don't need to nurse anymore. but they will if mama cat lets them, which mama probably will. you might have to seperte the kittens from mom for mama cat to dry her milk. it is best for mom to dry up her milk for two weeks before she gets fixed after nursing. she can still get fixed if she has milk, but it is better if she is dry. looks like the october clinic will work for you.

Thanks for your reply. Just wondering though, since she will still be nursing her kittens some, if that will matter? Hopefully by that time, they will be eating somewhat on their own. Should I keep her seperated from them for a couple of days after the surgery?
