One student mentioned to me after class yesterday that he might be interested in a midterm review session. This would work best if people had already reviewed the material and last year's exam, and perhaps prepared a list of questions or topics for discussion. If you are interested, please email me (seano at cs dot ucsd dot edu) by Friday, so I can set up a review session for Monday. Please include a list of available times in your email.

Yes, I think it will be helpful if we have a review section on Monday, I'm available from 2pm

I am available on the day of the exam to schedule a review for any questions that students may have that were not answered by studying.

I am thinking that if I hold the review at 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday then students still the afternoon to digest answers to their last minute questions. The idea is that it is a session oriented at discussing anything you could not figure out while studying.

I also have office hours that morning.

Would such a review session be useful?

Is it possible to put a pdf copy of the previous midterm online? I have no application on my computer that handles postscript. Thanks, Abbie

For future reference -- you can download ghostview for free on the web. It allows you to view postscript. A lot of research papers are in postscript so it is a good idea to have some kind of reader. There also are free postscript->pdf programs.

Hash -- not until afterwards ;)

BTW -- Monday's review session will be in the same time and place as the discussion sections: 4 PM, Center 212.

The homework assignment has been postponed until February 19th (Thursday) so that you can focus on studying for the midterm.

Mickey -- I don't understand your question. A "variable binding" creates a "bound variable", but I'm not sure this is what you're asking.

For number 2 of the sample midterm, I don't understand what the Nx means. Were post systems covered in class.

Ronald -- post systems were not covered in Sethi. You should review the grammars that were covered in class.
