Thanks Nancy for leaving this very fulsome trail through the jungle. When I get some time I hope to follow in your footsteps and leave some comments from the antipodeans perspective :-)

Our final show in Voicecafe was a great card trick from Robin. If you did not take the tour, you missed a good one! Then we went back to Robin's Voxwire room for our final experience. Robin has something that will blast our ears to jar us. Some craziness. To a website that will jar us a bit. When we get there, a little box will open up. You can close that one. Will be sound a music. Will be prompted to click on the center bottom to enter it. http://www.eye4u.com/

For this you need good annotation skills and tools. Robin hasnt seen tool that allows for pointing, drawing lines, sketching or highlightin on that page. Nancy thinks there may be a tool that comes with http://www.wacom.com tablet Also Training tools from http://www.www.milori.com.com from Milori. Robin really likes the tools. Great annotation tools. HP Virtual Classroom has some good annotation tools. Maybe we can tour that after the new year!

I had it wrong. Glance is ONLY application sharing. So combine it with VOIP, etc. Sorry! ;-) This application takes a lot of bandwith. With a good connection, almost real time. For those of you subscribed to this QT via email, I just realized this may be a spamming sort of experience. However, I did not want to wait too long between posting my notes in case something crashes -- which happens with tours! Page sharing without some of the usual overhead issues. This seems to run slow for me. Page loads in fits and starts. http://www.pageshare.com 1 on 1 page sharing. When you scroll it scrolls on their side. Very low bandwidth, works well. There is a quick demo on their home page.

Can reset URLs for a web tour in this product. Helps reduce stress, avoid typos, etc.
You can preview, present and then have people "follow" you in the tour.
Some question about being able to co-browse password protected sites

Note: Must be careful who has control of synch or "follow me" mode - turn off follow when done, and establish protocols for turn taking, etc.
Next we go to a new place, to Australia. Maybe some rought terraine, some download. May be rough for Tony. Automatic download.
This next tool is Voicecafe. Not many people resell it.

Voxwire is not great for application sharing
We noted that this has worked in SA even though VOIP is not allowed there.
We want to try and test with friends in Nairobi as a VOIP solution would be great
Lee has used WebX for application share. What we'll see today is lower in cost. Easier, access simpler and allows more people to do stuff without having a "big fat wallet" to do it.
You can talk like we are now with people all over the world. Can show presentations in the browser window.

Co-Browsing w/ Voxwire
* sometimes a bit of break up when page loads * text chat with some formatting ability * auto smilies * learning groups in Mideast and US using this for cross cultural learning * Daily basis for business meetings * Use technology in the background to more sophisticated tools but to avoid expensive phone calls * marketing and webseminars. * Saves teleconf costs * can leave it on in the background all day with no additional cost * offers teams a way to have instant voice contact. Just hit control button to "ping" them. Sitting next to each other by voice all day long.

Voxwire http://www.voxwire.com/discuss/robingood/login.php* Works with dial up * Not duplexed, but Robin likes this because it allows for some level of control and moderation * Voxwire is resold through a number of companies * $15/month for up to 5 people and up from there.

Is there any chance of one tour later hour ESD for those of us in the sth hemisphere? Just thought I would ask. Even 3-5 pm ESD would work if it is possible.

I'm going to try to make it for Thursday, 1pm EST. I have a mission critical task to do at 12, ie. deliver my doggie to the groomer for her Christmas do!
I've added mr_robin_good to my buddy list. My YahooID is "egs".
Look forward to a bit of fun!

Unless something goes wrong, count me in for 10 a.m. PST Thursday. My YahooIM ID is bharrisconsult; I'll be accessing it through Jabber, if that works for what you're doing. BTW, if I had typed better, my name would be Bill Harris on the left.

Friday at Noon (EST)is the time that works best for me, if you are going to do two sessions. I will be able to start the tour on Thursday, but not be able to stay too long.
Just let me know whether or not you're doing two sessions.

I am looking forward to joining tomorrow at noon CDT. My yahoo self is "nipporica." I'm afraid I'm not quite clear on what to do at the appointed time. Just be ready in Yahoo Messenger? Sorry for my naiveté. Thanks for leading us, Robin! The new site looks impressive. Will send my comments separately.

Hey guys for me it is OK to go out tomorrow and maybe then again Friday.
So far though I have too few people who have signed up with Yahoo Messenger which is our base reference communication platform. I need you to do this or to suggest reasons not to so that I can effectively move with these first two groups.
Please feel free to report this message.
Yahoo Messenger can be downloaded at: http.//messenger.yahoo.com/ my Yhaoo Messenger (YM) id is: mr_robin_good add me as your friend once you have the software running.
Look forward to receive some final confirmations for tomorrow at 1pm EDT as new buddies signing up to my name in YM.

All the best

Resolving Date/Time
We have a group that can do it Thursday at 1pm EDT
We have a group that can do it Friday at noon EDT
We have a group that is in a time zone that would appreciate something more like 6pm EDT or 9am EDT (if counting on my fingers and toes is correct.)
We need to resolve a time for this first go round. Maybe then we can all share duties of leading additional trips.
I'd like to propose we go with Thursday 1pm EDT (18:00 GMT I think, 10am PDT)
It would be good to resolve this by noon Wednesday EDT. OK?

Robin's Original Plan Dear Nancy, as your friends kindly pointed out you don't need much more than appropriate dress and some good reserve of water. Here are the specifications: Appropriate jungle dress: Windows PC, with audio board, headphones and microphone. (having a headset is required just like a hat is in the jungle). Connection to the Internet. Explorative, uncomplaining attitude. This is not a store or an IBM demo: we are going in the jungle and checking out some of the new trails open to us and the views available from there. For those of you who are serious explorers a digital camera is highly recommended to take screenshots during the trip. I use an old version of SnagIt (www.techsmith.com) which works like a pro. For those of you who like to make recordings (audio) I recommend Total Recorder from http://www.highcriteria.com/ . Reserve of water: I strongly suggest arming you with the following critical resources: a) curiosity - without it you are going to hate this trip. Just stay home and enjoy some good articles I can send you. b) patience - you will have to bear with things you will not like: interruptions, slow downs, maybe a crash or having to reboot your computer. If that gets on your nerves, don't come, as I consider it a full part of the show. It's the jungle not a living room! c) tolerance - the best spirits in this explorations have high tolerance for other peoples preferences, interests and issues and patiently participate and contribute in the serendipitous exchanges that spontaneously blossom during this short journeys. They also have a particular tolerance for my free-wheeling spirit, human fallibility and inability to not answer each and every question. If you can bear with all this, then feel more than welcome. d) questions - without them there is nothing to explore. Think of scenarios you want to achieve online and bring your stories , tips and suggestions to this outdoor hike. Also please note that I don't hold all the answers, I don't own the companies that make the tools, I am not a prophet and I don't get money by anyone to do this. Date: I would suggest for this coming Friday at a time that can satisfy the greatest number of participants in this group. My suggestion is for something around 12pm EST. What do you guys say? Duration: 1 to 1.5 hour Venue: Yahoo Messenger - this is our reference meeting point. If you don't have it you can download it for free at: http://messenger.yahoo.com/My id is "mr_robin_good" (Mac guys I haven't forgotten of you and I would like to attend to your needs to. If you are out there and want to be part of this while owning and using Apple Macs send me a note). Look forward to sign-up any late comer, Ciao, Robin Good What Communication Experts Need To Know http://www.masternewmedia.org/

The traffic on the list to manage Jungle Trip logistics has started to create some collateral side effects so I thought it might be helpful to pull off the planning to a side discussion here in Quicktopic. You can subscribe and get email if you want, so you don't miss out on any details as things emerge. We can also use this space to compile a report to share back to the fuller group after, if we wish!
