Hi Laura,
Thanks for setting up the Town Photo this year! I'd be happy to get the trucks set up in the park after the parade.

July 4th was a BLAST! Special thanks to JVFD/EMS for the most spectactularrrr fireworks EVER! It was also nice to see the presence of Left Hand Fire Dept. and I commend both departments for bridging a long-standing gap to work together and protect the our shared mountain!
Furthermore, I would like to thank ALL of the musicians who provided excellent music for the day, including the Kevin Dooley Trio, the entire Farmer family (Nolan, Sara, Katie, Nancy), Warren Hixson, Porphry Mountain, Swamp Koolers, Ed Gage & Friends, Bill Brotherton & Friends, Crash of the Dischords, Biscuit & Gravy, Jared Menard, Ronnie Tori, Gold Hill, and DJ Chad Zygoat, as well as the sound people who WORKED very hard that day, including Nolan Farmer, Drew McGrael, Richard Jenkins, Glenn Short, Bill Brotherton, Brent Delventhal, Tommy Williams, and Brian from Gold Hill. Thank you also to every person who helped with set up and clean up!
Finally, the music in Big Park would not have been possible at all without POWER from Cleg's home, for which we are eternally grateful. Thank you to Judy for accommodating our needs that day and for enduring loud music into the late hours!
'Til next year...ROCK ON!

It's time to BUILD A NEW PAVILLION FOR BIG (Elysian) PARK!
Some of you may have noticed how the stage/picnic pavillion is in desperate need of reconstruction, which will most likely be included to some degree in the upcoming GOCO grant headed up by Wendy Stokes.
Anyone interested in being part of this process, including input on the architectural plans, donating labor/materials for the actual construction, or any other help with improving this important town fixture, please attend the Elysian Park MEETING tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 9th @ 7 p.m. in Town Hall or call me @ (3 o 3) 5 4 5 5 5 o 2 with your ideas!
THANKS!

Hi Friends...we all have a friend in crisis right now.
Holly (Smith) Mann is heading right now to the emergency room in Denver and her 2 small children desperately need care while she is there. She asked me to post this message and make phone calls to all of her friends up here.
In case you don't know, Holly has recently been diagnosed with Lupus and has been terribly sick for 6 months since giving birth to her daughter. She also has a 3 year old son, Gavin, and her husband, John, cannot take any more time off of work as there would be NO money coming in for the family & bills.
Holly's sister, Katie, is looking after the kids and the whole family would appreciate ANY HELP that ANYONE can provide, which mostly entails coming to their house to help with the kids. Now, they live in Thornton (about an hour away from here) and Katie can provide directions or any other info if you call her cell phone @ (603) 339-2442. Holly's home phone is (303) 536-5454.
Your kindness is much appreciated!

Hi Friends. Here's a HOLLY UPDATE:
Thank you to those who are concerned and have offered help to Holly and her family. We don't know any details about her condition yet, but I will be going down to spend the day tomorrow with my two teen helpers and can take anything you may have for them. Here's what is needed:
1. MEALS and/or GROCERIES: juices & cereals for Gavin, grocery cards so I can shop for them, and any meals that can be frozen.
2. CHILD CAREGIVERS/BABYSITTERS for Gavin at their home in Thornton while Holly's sister, Katie, attends to baby Addie needed on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. They do not need overnight care, but really need an extra hand with Gavin, light housekeeping, shopping, etc. Other kids are welcome to come play with Gavin as well!
3. AIRPORT RIDE: Holly's mom is arriving at DIA this Friday at around 2 p.m. If anyone can pick her up and bring her to Thornton, it would be a tremendous help.
Please call Katie @ (303) 536-5454 if you are able to provide any of these needs. You can also call me @ (303) 545-5502 if you have meals or food to send.
Thanks to our special commUNITY for reaching out to this former Jimtown family in need.

Hi Friends! I just got the following message from Holly Mann and she asked me to share it:
Dear All: I just want to say thank you. To you and EVERYONE who have helped us. I am home and trying to heal. I am feeling better. We are still waiting for the pathology results. I won't know anything for sure until I have another pregnancy test (next week). If it is negative they we will have to assume that they got everything with the surgery. If it is positive, then there is a cancer and they will look further. So for now I am just trying to get medications straightened out for the auto immune disease and get back on my feet. I am very grateful to all of you.
All my Love, Holly and Family
P.S. I will keep you updated. I saw one of my doctors today and she was pleased with my progress.

JVFD EMS Team Update:
Please mark your calendars for the following EMS training dates for 2008 to be held at 180 Main Street instead of the Fire Hall:
1. October 27, 2008 - Topic: Bloodborn Pathogens from the RapidCE website. This online course is under the Occupational Safety category on the home page. It is number B301. We will be practicing skills from this class and review the basic skills of responding to any incident.
2. November 24, 2008 - Topic: Abdominal Injuries Online course B241.
3. December 15, 2008 - Topic: Skills practicals and testing. This class is required to all EMS First Responders.
As your EMS Chief it is my responsibility to provide you with the opportunities for training to keep your First Responder Certification and make sure that you are skilled to provide safe treatment on the scene. It is important that you attend the monthly trainings to practice your skills. At least 4 of your 12 CEUs should be from attending the monthly trainings each year.
It is your responsibility to attend the trainings to practice skills, keep your First Responders status by having 12 CEUs annually, wear your radios and learn how to use them, respond to all 911 calls to the Fire Hall, do not respond if you are impaired from drugs or alcohol, and work as a team.
All of you put in the time to get your First Responders certification. It would be unfortunate if you let this lapse and then have to take the entire course over again. After January 1, 2009, those who do not have their 12 CEUs completed will not be listed on the EMS Team as First Responders. Please contact me if I can help in any way to keep you on this team. We value every member of the EMS Team.
Thank you for helping your community.

The EMS vehicle is parked outside the firehall untill late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday because the firehall is being used as the polling place for voting. I locked the vehicle and the keys are inside the firehall on the bulletin board by the radios. Please remember to keep the EMS vehicle locked if it is ever out of the firehall and unattended.

Restoration Volunteers Needed Immediately
This Friday, June 12, 2009, we will be working with a small team of Forest Service folks in the upper reaches of Howlett Gulch to further stabilize the newly restored area with plantings of bushes. This area was the source of the mudflow through Jamestown. We need a few local volunteers to help with the plantings during the morning hours 8:30 AM till noon. Please contact Colleen Williams, James Creek Watershed Initiative, at 303-449-2621 ASAP. Help to make positive changes within your community!
