A very good day to set aside all of the issues that make otherwise reasonable people bithcy and confrontational. Sure we have some pretty serious concerns right here in river city, but there a few worse places in this world to live. I'm sure that in some bombed out pile of rubble in Kabul or Somalia there's a guy that would cut off his right nut to trade places with any one of us. And we think our future looks bleak? At least we have the ability to rectify ours, it may cost us each a few extra dollars(and no one likes that)but when put into perspective it ain't that bad. Just take a look at your dinner table today and imagine what it's like in some really destitute places. After a day off our confrontational attitudes will be recharged and we all can resume our whining ,complaining, etc. with a new fervor. Now that's something we can all look forward to. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Depending on the department and the nature of the call mutual aid can be requested or automatic. On daytime calls in particular some departments have established automatic mutual aid. This seems to me a wise move. You can always turn them around if not needed. As to the constant refernces to Dct Junction - their call volume is relatively low and responses to them are infrequent. I thimk that tax payer's statements are more telling of the situation and except for an an agenda being pushed by some for a fully paid dept in Beacon - why isn't Beacon doing more to recruit volunteers? I agree with tax payer - let Beacon fix their own house and leave Fishkill out of their politics and keep Beacons hands out of our pockets and thereby our wallets.

Arff the theory is your over there fighting for freedom as a patriot, I am not going to get in a pissing match with you. I am repeating what Chief Joseph told the Council. To repeat Dutchess Junction has an alarm Beacon Fire Department responds.

As for the varient flavors of mutual aid I don't know, just the Chief stated that other mutual aid calls come via a specific request. To wit it appears as thoughn thier are at least two flavors of mutual aid at least. Arff call them what ever you like, but be safe ... Happy Thanksgiving Arff and that goes to all of you in Beaconite land!

HAPPY THANKS GIVING! ***GOOBLE...GOOBLE***
HEY **ARF**Fantastic to hear from you!

Now can somebody explain to me why it cost $16k to run a pool?
Did we fix cracks? Did we paint it? What the HELL cost $16k?
$16,000.00 for what? chemicals? water? something not right with this.
Just for Ha' Ha's maybe the Firehouses should publish their Budget plans
like the City did for the citizens of Beacon to see.

Arff.....Have a safe Thanksgiving . The current city administration is more concerned about neutering feral cats....they alloted $10K for that and we lost $16k running the pool at the settlement camp but will fund that for next year too. Put simply things around here are totaly FUBAR .

I have to agree with Tax Payer.... Again, it does not matter if Beacon goes outside their response area, that is why we have reserve engine or mutual aid agreements. It all comes down to several issues, and again it comes back to how the Fire Department is run. I am talking about 16 years ago when I was a Junior Firefighter with Beacon Engine, I joined because of my father, I did not joined because Beacon Fire Department came to the High School to recuit Junior Firefighters. I think there was 4 of us active junior firefighters that I can recall. That is all. Other outside departments have been recuiting for years in high schools or middle schools for their explorer or junior program. The City is not doing anything to recuit for Volunteers...

Why is it that everytime there is a problem in Beacon everyone has to Bring in The Town of Fishkill Fire Departments. The City of Beacon needs to look at why they are having so many problems with getting Volunteers and about Taxes. The City of Beacon uses their paid staff for Medical calls well as a Tax payer that is good for someone who needs it, but why does a Engine and the ladder have to go, and for the City wanting to cut back, Closing Fire houses that is not the answer, But 33-11 needs to be in that Station at all times and not hanging down at the other stations.
Now for the Mutual aid everyone Knows that in these Times we all need to help each other, but why is it that everytime Beacon has a Fire They put Glenham on satndby in Station two with 12 men,Rombout in their ladder station but the Beacon FD keeps telling the City Council they need more staff why don't you use whats around you more. I was told this by a couple of Tax payers. Tax payers in Beacon should pay more attention to whats going on and see the real quest here is for a fully paid Fire Dept.Yes if something Happens to a Departments Truck the Fire Department that called is resonsable but I was told that Glenham is also on First alarm with Dutchess Junction for Structure Fires but you do not here the Town of fishkill complaining, because they use Beacon just as well. Beacon needs to Fix the City First befor they Start Trying to throw other Departments under the bus. This stuff needs to stop and look at the situation and see that all Fire Departsments are here for the same reason to help someone in need. There are alot of Departments that do not have Mebership problems, I was told by one Person who was a active volunteeer in Beacon they do not do it anymore because the pager is always going off for Medical calls and thats not what they joined for.So the City should look into that as being a problem with the amount of Volunteers they have. The Mutaul Aid program has been in effect for a long time and does not need to be changed but it would not be funny if it was your house burning and no mutual aid was coming because you don't want to pay for damages for their equipment, witch happens far less than you know so you do the Math. Whats more Important there are plenty of ways The City could cut Taxes and Save Money.

For many years, the COB provided fire protection to Dutchess Junction under contract. When the Rombout Fire Co was established (1970ish) they became first responders to the Junction after contract negtiations with the city failed. Obviously the response time left much to be desired, hence the formation of their own fire co. If the City of Beacon has to be first responders maybe another contract should be in order. (I'm not well versed in the legal aspect of this, but it seems outside the intent of "Mutual Aid"
