The popups are the pits. I will not be buying belkin software/hardware again.

This "non-advertising" scam (or rather, SPAM) ticked me off enought to make me spend some of my precious scrounged time for eating lunch to tell Belkin, that I - and nobody I spec systems for - will ever be customers of theirs. What kind of marketdroids do you hire? Sheesh!

I'm not sure it's worth it, to post comments on your second rate forum..

It's much the same as Verisign's SiteFinder, serving you a Web page you didn't ask for. Web sites often throw up unattractive advertisements as pop-ups - even the quite admirable Snopes.com - and software installations (Realplayer, messaging) try to lead you to sign up for things that you didn't have in mind to accept, and that subsequently pop up when you don't want to see them. But you expect more from a hardware purchase.

By the way, are other people getting these postings running together here? My browser has text size issues since I tried to switch on some of the accessibility.

It's an advert. It's software which advertises other software until you ask it to stop - but no, it's not REALLY an advert, says Belkin.

What amuses me about this is: about five years ago, I wrote a column for PC Mag UK, predicting exactly this. My colleagues all went off, shaking their heads and tut-tutting about how "Guy's really lost it this time..."
