I was thinking you were lucky, as this first happened to me a very long time ago. But the quantity? The biggest set of bounced emails I have received from a scam like this was probably 40 - 60, and more typically it's 5 - 10. I assumed this was because the spammers rotate through a long series of stolen email addresses, as part of their scheme to defeat spam filters. Also, I rarely even get a reply from a recipient of the spam, let alone from an ISP.

The strangest part is seeing some of the automated responses I've received, including a couple of "thank you for your inquiry to customer service" replies from Microsoft, despite the obvious spam email header. Microsoft may have implemented some filtering software of its own, as I haven't seen this from them lately.

Meanwhile, I get more than 600 spam emails per day. Up from when Congress "helpfully" preempted tougher state laws, blocked private remedies, and provided a spam bill applauded by major players in the direct mail industry. (What a surprise.)
