My GGGGG Grandparents were John Corcoran and Bridget Edwards, presumably of Crossmolina, Co. Mayo. As far as I can determine, they stayed in Ireland. Three of their boys and one grandson worked for the Hudson Bay Company. Presumably John and Bridget died in Ireland, because their sons settled in Rawdon and brought over the rest of their siblings in the early 1800s.

My GGGG Grandfather was James Corcoran (1788-1873), born in Crossmolina, Co. Mayo, Ireland. He was married to Bridget (1788-1855), also presumably born in Ireland. I have not been able to determine her maiden name. She is always listed as Bridget Corcoran.

My GGG Grandfather was John Corcoran, who was married to Catherine McDonald (or McDonnell). I have no dates for either of them.

My GG Grandfather was Patrick Corcoran, b. 1837 in Rawdon. He was married to Mary Markey, b. 1840 presumably also in Rawdon.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Ann Corcoran (1863-1948), born in St-Ambroise-de-Kildare. Her husband was Arthur Fleury (1862-1941), also of St-Ambroise.

My Corcorans married a lot of different families in Rawdon, St-Alphonse, Ste-Melanie, St-Ambroise-de-Kildare and St-Jacques-de-l’Achigan. Some of the names are Daly, Mulligan, Brien-Deroche, McGurrin, Kelly, Landry, Cassidy, Gagnon, Flynn, Rowan, Mullen and Cannon – and those are only the ones of which I am aware!

My wife is a descendant of the late 18th century HOLMES, MELROSE, and WEIR families of Rawdon. We are anxious to correspond with any other descendants of these families.
Several years ago we visited Rawdon in the fall. What a gorgeous area! We have also visited these families' roots in Ireland and Scotland.

I'm tracing my GGGG grandfather who was said to have been a Curate in Rawdon sometime after April 1808. His name was William Cowper, and after his Ordination on 10 April 1808, he was alledgely appointed as a Curate in Rawdon. Dispite extensive enquiries with Lambeth Palace, and other C of E Offices, I've not been able to confirm his appointment to Rawdon. Strangely, I know prior to his appointment he lived in Drypool near Hull, and his wife died there in June of 1808, which seems to imply he was sent back to Drypool rather than Rawdon. Can anyone help?

There was never an Anglican curate at Rawdon, Quebec named Cowper. The first priest of any Christian faith was J. E. Burton who began his ministry at Terrebonne, Rawdon and district in 1821.

Perhaps he was at Rawdon, NS or in Hastings County, Ontario.

i am looking for info on my ancestors in the rawdon, quebec area. they are margaret maria burns and william wade. i believe that margaret maria was the daughter of dean burns, born circa 1796, from ireland. i have been unable to find any info on the wade family. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for any information on the Scales family of the Rawdon area. Some of the family came down to the US, in the middle 1800's, and settled in the Rouses Point/Champlain area of New York. I have some info I'd be happy to share with anyone doing the genealogy of my family.

Thank you for all the hard work you do in keeping the history of Rawdon alive. I haven't been to Rawdon since my grandmother passed away a year and a half ago (Aggie Campbell) but it's always going to be a place that I love - I spent many weekends and summers and holidays at her house and miss Rawdon very much. It makes me sad to see so much of the area being so drastically changed.

If I come across any old photos I will let you know!

    As far as I can tell from the records down here, the Rawdon is in Quebec. I have a copy of a Burial Transfer Permit showing that my g'father signed to have Fanny Scales sent to Rawdon, P.Q. for interment. She died Apr. 14, 1887 at the age of 35 in Champlain, NY. I think she may have been born in Rawdon

hiiiiiiiiii, i live in niagara on the lake and was up in rawdon for the first time ever to visit beverly and see where my ancestry lived. my gg grandfather was george copping, i had an enjoyable time with beverly. there wasnt enough time and i want to come back to visit and see more. id enjoy seeing gravesites etc. ive been emailing beverly but havent heard any response i hope beverly sees this message and emails me at canadiandeernuts@hotmail.com. i still have sooooooooooo many questions about the walshs and coppings.

Hi Rawdon people, I haven't been there since the new Rawdon school was opened. Met alot of old school chums and had a wonderful time. To up date anyone who is interested, my brither Bill McBurney past away 1n 1995 at the age of 55 from cancer he was a fiesty fighter to the end, my younger brother Graham McBurney is married and living in Calgary Aberta, my sister Ellen J. McBurney who only visited Rawdow in the summer in retired and living in Florida and St. Catherines Ont. I'm living in Hamilton Ontario, it's amazing how time flies I'm 60 years old and still have the fondest memories of growing up in Rawdon some of my friends where Taylor Smith Kieth and Brian Harrison, Linda and Kenny Tatem, Rowan Fraser Sandy Coombs, who I married and had a child Kathryn.
