Hi Sarah - if you contact the local HIVE Information Officer in Culdrose she will be able to let you have some info on local housing. Tel No: 01326 573269 or email culdrose@hivegb.co.uk. Or you can follow this link and complete an online enquiry http://www.forums.mod.uk/feedback/HiveEnquiry.htm Jackie

Hello all,
I was hoping to seek some advice from anyone living in the Helensburgh area. My husband is in his phase 2 training and is due to be based in Faslane early next year.
I am in a difficult situation as I am happy in Plymouth and have my support network here. I am loathe to give all of this up but am also loathe to give my man up!
I have been told we are likely to be housed in Colgrain, Lower Churchill or Upper Churchill. if anybody could tell me what the houses/schools/local area are like so I can make more of an informed decision I would be very grateful.
Many Thanks
Nic

Hi, everyone I am hoping someone can help me.

I am currently away on deployment, and I have learnt that my Girlfriend is pregnant. When I get back I would like to live in SFA with my partner and child. Problem is, we are not married, can anyone tell me if thier, is anyway of getting SFA, for families with children that are not married.

Hi Cheesy,

If your girlfriend is a serving member of the armed forces and is pregnant then she quilifies for a "married quarter" or SFA whether she is married or not. I don't know if she actually has to have given birth to the child before she is allocated a house/flat though.

If she is a civilian and is pregnant she has to be married or in a civil partnership to get SFA. ie you have to be married.

If it helps, I have heard of people getting married quickly and then "doing it properly" a few years down the line so they can sort out housing for themselves and their children.

I hope this helps.

Hi Cheesy - Annie is right, you won't be able to live in SFA with your girlfriend and baby - only if/when you are married. If you fix a wedding date, then let Defence Estates know as soon as you have done this, and you will be allocated a property that you will be able to move into straight after the wedding. You would normally be allowed access to the property a few days before the wedding to enable you to move your possessions in, but not to live there. Unfortunately because there is such a severe shortage of properties, this rule is strictly adhered to. If you do decide to go down this route, let us know and we can advise you further re completing an application form etc. Good luck. Jackie

Hi Nicola - If you contact the Faslane HIVE Information Manager at Helensburgh she will be able to give you all the information you need. Her name is Lorna Austin, Tel No: 01436 678029, or email faslane@hivegb.co.uk. Alternatively, you can complete an online enquiry by following this link http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/ContactU...nServiceEnquiry.htm. Good luck with the move. Jackie

That's quite interesting, Sarah managed to answer Jackies question before she asked it. Sarah, whatever you plan in life I believe you'll do well!

Hi
Have a question & wondering if anyone can help!

We live in married quaters in Eastney Portsmouth and unfortunatly on the opposide side of the road to us are proberbly the worst civvi neighbours ever! police are constantly over their and for the past couple of weeks the younger ones have being smashing car windows. 4 cars belonging to residents of the married quaters in total have been damaged.. up to now!

Do the military police still patrol naval married quaters? and if so who can we inform directly as this is starting to become a problem for most of the neighbours and i think they should be aware? one lady who had her windscreen smashed is to scared to repot them or confront them as they are not very civil! and her hubby is currently on deployment

Many Thanks

Hi Sue,

Really sorry to hear about the difficulties that you are experiencing.

Do call the MOD Police on 023 92 722421 so you can inform them of the problems-

hey sue,i used to live on the stamshaw married patch and we had civies living oposite us.(big civi patch) There was always trouble and lost count at the amount of times police were called out.Things ranged from fights, domestic violences, fires, damage etc.....Our bins at the back of us were constanlty being set alight too.We also bcame victims of having our car windows smashed. In one night 6 cars had been smashed in.
Not once when all this was happening did we ever see the mod police. We got told that we had to phone civi police because it was civis who were the problem.Used to scare me when hubby was away cos it was happening right outside our door.
Good luck with it all and i do know the area u r on about .x

Hi my boyrfriend has just passed out as a marine and after he finishes his driver training we will be heading down to plymouth in the new year as he has been based at 42 commando. We obviously dont qualify for any accommodation, can anyone advise me of the best way to go about looking for a place, ie the main areas people live in and any forces accommodation websites which might help etc.
Thanks alot

Hi Louise - first of all congratulations to your boyfriend! To find out more information about local areas around Plymouth please contact the Plymouth HIVE Information Officer, Andrea Mitchell, on 01752 286138 or email her at plymouth@hivegb.co.uk. Another very good organisation to speak to about housing is the Joint Service Housing Association Office (JSHAO). Website: www.mod.uk/jshao Tel:01722 436573 or email them on L-F-JSHAO-Mailbox@mod.uk.

Good luck with the move Louise and if you need to know anything else please ask. Keep in touch! Jackie
