Hi there I am a wife of a royal navy POET who is based at HMS Sultan. We currently live in a MQ in rowner in one of the maisonettes. We have a 6 year old little girl and are only in a small ground floor 2 bed flat and I was wondering why we were not given a house when there are people with only one child in the houses around us. The flat is really only ok for couples and tose with a baby. My little girl is growning very fast and space is at a premium in our house I my husband is on a very long course and has taken over the living room with computers and such like as we have no where else to put it can you help with were to go for advise on getting a bigger house. I have spoken with the DHE but they say we are in adequate accomodation.

Thanks
Jennie

Hi Jennie,
Thank you for your message, we would normally advise people to liaise with the HIC for their area as they are the organisation that deal with allocation of SFA. If you would like to talk in more detail about your SFA arrangements, then please telephone us on 02392 654374, so that we establish a clear picture of what we may be able to assist with.

I was wondering why there is no park/play area for the kids who live on the Eastney married patch as there is at Hilsea and other quaters i have lived at eg Stanmore, yet there is a lawned fenced off play area for those that live in the maisonettes on Ferry Road?

Hi All,

Hubby has been drafted to Portsmouth for 2 yrs, we've been told we'll be housed in Gosport and can get a 2 or 3 bed house, any idea's which streets to put in for? I've heard Rowner isn't the place to go, is this correct?

Thanks

Good morning Annie,

It's Jane Williams from NFF responding. Do you know the Portsmouth area at all? The local HIVE's can send you some information which you may find really useful to help with your decision making, as this will include information about schools, amenities, doctors, dentists,
transport links, shops etc. One thing to note though, each family looks for different things when moving house or area, so my top suggestion is to think about what your needs are, and plan from there, as some areas may meet those more conveniently than others.

You can contact the local HIVE's for the Portsmouth area on: SULTAN HIVE, 02392 542565, COLLINGWOD HIVE, 01329 333730, PORTSMOUTH HIVE 02392 722151.

Hope that this information is useful.

Kind regards,

Jackie Jackson

 Re: Eastney married quaters Playground

Ive lived in the Eastney married quaters for 10 years both in the flats then the houses.
Around 2001-2002 work commenced to take asbestos out of the grassed areas around the houses & flats. Before this work there was a playground on a large patch of grass on Finch road this was taken down before they started the work.

Good question Peter! why was a play area never re-built?

Good morning Peter and Banana

Thanks for posing the question. (Peter, I can only apologise for the tardy reply - not sure what happened there but will investigate on my return to office tomorrow)

We will ask the question and get back to you. We have been asked to suggest areas for playparks recently and will certainly bear you in mind when asked again. I know that in the past there have been problems in relation to playparks with who is responsible for maintenance, and also health and safety concerns. That doesnt mean to say that the question cant be asked though.

Bear with me.

Kind regards
Kim

Hi

Just a general query & a moan.

Ive been made aware that Paultons Parks gave 1000 free tickets to naval familys for this weekend.
Apparently they were for the Portsmouth Hive area & id like to know how they were given out. I understand from two people ive talked to that if you attend the local cockelshells community centre that they were given out if you called to request them. Both me & my husband both work full time & have 3 small children so i don't have time to attend "coffee mornings" thus not enabling me to know people to get the tickets.

Im very dissapointed that as a naval family that lives in the quaters i didn't have a fair attempt to get these tickets. Id be very gratefull if you could anwser the above query & maybe in the future when there are tickets available to armed forces familys that leaflets are posted throught our doors...... they have no problems posting leaflets advertising bbq's & discos!

Moan over!

Hi Debbie P: I will pass your query on to Jo at the Portsmouth HIVE. I'm afraid I don't know how the tickets were distributed although I'm sure it was done as fairly as possible with regard to any time constraints. I believe the HIVE were given just a percentage of the available tickets to distribute, and other organisations likewise. Really sorry that you were unable to benefit from these free tickets but hopefully if something similar happens in the future you'll find out about the event in time. Jackie

Thank you Jackie

It would be nice to know how they were given out & if a record was taken of people who got tickets then if it happens again other people might be able to get first refusal rather then the same people.
I await your reply

Kind Regards

I am trying to get some advice on getting a bigger married quarter, i am in a small 2 bedroom flat which is ok for small children but my 8 year old son has no room for his bike and we have to keep it in the hall way along with lots of other items in both bedrooms as there is no room in our shed as it is full with items. i have items in storage at a relatives but they need the room now and to get too anything you have to move 2 things then put them back and i read on the NFF website that you can request an upgrade if surplus accom available, but i only have the 1 child, but i am desperate for a larger accom, please help, i have spoken to housing who say i am in adequate housing.
