I don't know much about the Crinella project. It means change, and a lot of people don't want change in a neighborhood they moved to because they liked it the way it was. On the other hand, it's a good policy to restrict development to the urban (and village) cores, and hostility to development on rural roads needs to be balanced by a more welcoming attitude towards development in the village or town center. And, where housing is within walking distance of stores and shops and restaurants, this means that a lot of trips that would normally require a car will be made on foot.
I don't know how well that fits Forestville, though, because your main market, presumably the place you are most likely to run into your neighbors, is a bit outside the commercial center.

The Crinella Project could easily be an asset to Downtown Forestville by providing a real town square where people can relax and enjoy being in Forestville. It will also provide an excellent trail-end to the West County trail as people come off the trail, park at Solak Park and walk into town for lunch, etc. And it provide more in-town living quarters, which I'd like to see available for Seniors who need to be close to services and social groups, such as the Prime Timers.
I'm not fond of change either, but this one feels pretty good. It will fill in that end of downtown and provide a visual barrier from looking at bypass traffic. And it will have some appeal to people sitting at the traffic light looking for a place to come relax, dine, shop, etc.
And who knows, maybe Speer's Market will move into town or have a sattalite store for townies. I'd like a book store and hand-dipped ice cream shop as well as a great place for breakfast. Any takers?
