Article for ‘The Guardian’ - Can you help – There is to be an article in the family section of ‘The Guardian’ on what it is like to be brought up in a forces family. The article talks to family members from all three services but still needs to understand the experiences of children growing up in a naval family. They are particularly interested in speaking to boys, aged between 10-12 years, as they do not yet have enough information from this category. The sorts of questions that will be asked are: In what ways do you keep in contact with the serving person while they are away? Are you close to other forces families? Do you go to a regular school or a forces school and what is it like? The conversational interview will be done over the phone with parental consent. If you would like to take part please contact Jo Mears on: 013 0650 1830.

Hello everyone,

We are trying to gather some information on access to dentistry and would very much appreciate it if you could take a minute to answer the poll on the homepage of our website.

Thank you!

Hello Henry

Thank you for contacting us with your idea. There are many ways that serving personnel and their families communicate - free phone calls, email, snail mail, eblueys, record messages for serving personnel from families via BFBS, storybook waves recordings to name a few. Whilst I think families may well be open to even more suggestions, I would have to ask if there would be a cost attached to your proposal as the majority of the above are free of charge. If you would still like some consideration given to your proposal then please email me details at admin@nff.org.uk and I will pass it on.

Kind regards
Kim

I do videography for small businesses and I've got an idea to take a room in a hotel to do video messages for families who have serving relatives abroad.
It's difficult for people to do their own video so what I had in mind was to edit the footage so they can send out a message they're very proud of. I would then put it onto a DVD and send it to them so they would the option of using it as they wished.
Please could you give me some feedback. Thanks.

Hi everyone, just to let you know we are experiencing major problems with the distribution of the Spring issue of Homeport and therefore it has not yet gone out to anyone! If you would like to read a copy online, go to the Homepage of our website and click on 'Homeport Magazine' which will take you to the lastest edition. Don't forget to check out the Reader Offer pages as we have tickets for the Army v Navy Rugby Match, a mini-cruise to Bilbao, a Red Letter Day and a Hetty Hoover to name a few. Send your entries to me at editor@nff.org.uk, remember to clearly mark which offers you would like to be entered for.

WOW thats amazing what your family have been through how an earth did you manage on your own your very brave in my eye's! He is based there for two years as he is Fast track. He i doing his LH course just now and then in 18 Months he is back to do his PO's course. So we are even more lucky that he wont be going away for a good few years. I think we are privilaged concidering how so many forces families have spent most of thier careers away from thier families. Maybe I should stop complaining and get on with it hey lol. ha ha. We have just lookied into STFAC and they unfortunatly dont have any facilities in Culdrose so thats a little bit of a bumer. We will be married 2010 so not really long now so we will wait untill he gets his Pay for LH and then move in together. Thanks for your suggestions made me look into it more and definitly opened my eyes THANK YOU X
