At first blush, anyone who might read this article could conclude that the future for wireless data applications are tenuous at best. In contrast, I look at this assessment and actually see vast opportunity -- especially the opportunity to place Austin at the center of a "beyond wireless access" movement, and as a pioneer thought-leader in the evolving "enterprise wireless data applications" arena.

I'm in the process of writing a column for Wireless Review magazine, on this very topic. More details to follow.

FYI, my latest column is a synopsis of insights I gleaned from attending the "Austin Mobility Roundtable" and SXSW "Wireless Future" conferences in Austin, Texas over the last few days. I also offer a cautionary note for wireless carrier executives heading to the CTIA show in Atlanta.

I've already received comments that question why you can't "own the customer." Here's a good text that expands upon the obvious.
