Yes, I have told someone something about a person that was not true, and I thought about it and I told everyone it was not true. I said I was sorry. What would you do?

I have never spread a rumor because it would hurt someone's feelings. I didn’t really like this story because it is not like me.

Does saying you are sorry always fix everything or is it sometimes its not enough…

It depends what the problem is because if it was really bad then it’s not always enough. If, by accident, a friend tells you a secret and then you tell a friend that secret to another person, and she tells someone else, but that girl tells no one then it’s not enough. Tommy had to pick up all the feathers, but he didn’t. Mr. Peabody was just showing his punishment. In this story sorry is not enough.

Once when my sister had a friend over. I wanted to make friends with her. Theresa [my sister] said to her friend “she does not like you. She told me.”
I was very embarrassed, and upset. I went in my room and was flaming red. Then Theresa’s friend came out and saw me upset. She said I know you like me. Don’t listen to your sister. Sometimes she can be crazy! Then I became a close friend with her.

Sometimes saying you’re sorry isn’t enough. Sometimes there are consequences to what you’ve done. The consequence of Tommy's action was to cut open a pillow, let thousands of feathers blow around in the wind, and pick them all up again. This was just because he was spreading a rumor about Mr. Peabody being a thief. I think I liked this story because it was interesting and exciting. I hope to read another book like it someday.

Rumors are hurtful. In Mr.Peabody’s Apples by Madonna Tommy spreads a rumor about Mr.Peabody that he was stealing apples. This was not true. Rumors mostly always not true. They can really hurt someone feelings. Rumors are bad choices.

I’ve called my little brother Michael mean stuff and he never cared. But he might have cared inside but not showed it, or he was too young to understand. Now all my friends think he is what I called him.

Have you ever called somebody something they're not and told everybody about it?

When someone talks about me with someone else I feel very hurt, but than to make everything hurt more they spread a rumor about it.
My mom always told me when your saying sorry the only thing your really doing is saying words. She says it's easier to say something than to really mean it with your heart.
Unfortunately yes, some people have spread rumors about me. It has made me feel upset, taken advantage of, but mostly I fee damaged like a dead leaf.

When I won the math bee almost everyone said I cheated, but I didn’t. That kind of annoyed me because it wasn’t true.

Someone who didn’t know me well said that I was in second grade because I was by a second grade classroom and because I am short. Later when he found out that I was in third grade, he felt bad and I told him that just because I was by a second grade classroom and because I am short doesn’t mean I am younger.

Before you knew that Mr. Peabody was paying for his apple, did you think that he was a thief like Timmy thought?

This had happened to me and I was upset and confused why this girl did it. She told Miranda that I would kiss her in the sixth grade. It took me two days to convince Miranda and was never the girl’s friend again.
Have you ever told a rumor about your friend or another kid in your class or school?

One time I accused someone of something to do with orange peels but I wasn’t the only one accusing him of doing it. I was wrong because no one knows who did it yet. I learned not to accuse someone if your not sure if they did it.

When my brother says things about me that are very mean and untrue, it makes me very sad because it makes me think that he hates me, and I know that he doesn’t hate me.

Unfortunately, people have spread rumors about me. I know that is really sad when people do that because it isn’t true. People keep saying it is but they really don’t even know. The person never apologized for it.

Do you think that spreading rumors is nice if something isn’t even true?

If something were true would you spread a rumor about it? If you did how do you think the person would feel?
