I remember the Norwood Footbal clubs discos on a Sunday night during the eighties. Pleople would come from miles around as it was still prior to Sunday Trading.
1968 Redlegs Club Opened The magnificent Redlegs Club building was the brainchild of Norwood Football Club president Bert Baulderstone, founder of one of South Australia's leading construction companies. Opened on March 12, 1968, at the cost of $250,000, the Redlegs Club was a huge improvement on the old facilities crammed under the Norwood oval grandstand. After 90 years Norwood at last had a social club and headquarters which matched its high standing in Australian football, as well as an invaluable asset for the long term future.
And magnificent it was. An upstairs venue with polished floors and beer tressles with butchers paper for table cloths. $2 Jugs of beer were the order of the day as we danced to the latest top 40 hits and tried to avoid too buch grief from the bouncers (being barely leagal).
