I see the animal on the rocks. It is some kind of mammal. The skin seems to be damaged.

It's not an American possum. Those are more silve and have less leg hair than that. Perhaps an Australian opossom, then?

I have stared at this photo for quite some time. I think the real question is not what the animal is, but how is it related to the woman? For example, does she know that it is behind her?

The animal is clearly some kind of mammal. It is strange that it is in the photo. But I'm more interested in the woman. She will probably never know that you have made her "famous" worldwide, simply by asking about the photo.

what that poor little animal is, you can also figure out where in the world they must be in the photographs ( ! )

I agree with Chef, it is most probably a rat. I worked with opossums long ago in a children's zoo, and I'd be extremely surprized to find an opossum that close to the water (which I'm presuming to be salt water).

Think about Sin. Where does it look like she's from ? You can see in ' The Big Photoshoot ' here that the photographer is taking the pictures from an angle above her. That's so you can't see so easily that she's wide as a door ! Particularly in the hips !

It is interesting to contemplate what the animal is, but more importantly, why is it even in the photo? Is the woman aware of it? Did she have anything to do with the creature's death?

The scene appears to be a beach. However, the creature appears to be a mammal that does not belong in a beach environment. I agree, this is very mysterious.

This looks like an Atlantic Ocean scene. Best bet is that it is a marine mammal -- a seal.

The creature appears to be an opposum, but I'm not sure why it's in a "costal marine environment." It's so close to the girl that she must know about it. Not sure why she would stand next to such a thing if it is dead.

 I also believe it is an opposum. Maybe it wondered there looking for food? And hey, the one who should have noticed the corpse should have been the person taking the pictures. The girl posing has her back to the corpse, there is no way she can see it unless she turns around. Don't you think so?

Could be a big fat rat. Domesticated ones have tails like that. Or.. it's an opposum or an Australian ring-tailed possum. But i'd bet on a rat

The creature in question is clearly an opossum. It’s really pretty clear. You can even make out a slight prehensile curve at the end of its tail.
