Fish Fish, (I assume that's your real name) if you have no interest in usage you obviously have no interest in language and ultimately no interest in literature.

P.S. Usage and grammar are two different kettles of fish.

Vagabond, you may want to direct your usage issues to the newpaper from which I quoted as I'm quite sure The Australian is not reading Bookninja daily and may miss it.

Fish fish was perhaps not so eloquent but I think, though I am not sure, that s/he meant the discussion boards might be more lively if they discussed the actual articles rather than the grammar, usage issues and spelling therein. I must agree, even if issues of word usage, grammar, spelling etc. are as dear to my heart as I'm certain they are to Fish's.

See, Christians don't hate fantasy

They just hate fantasies that don't mesh with their fantasy. If this movie had been made twenty years ago, it could have saved me a lot of crazy-Xtian parent fussing over D&D.

That hideous bastard Philip Roth was wrong. Dead wrong...

About religion and violence. See, religion is about what religious people say. And they say it's not about violence. It's about love and sharing and sharing your love with uncivilized folk even if love isn't needed or wanted. And they'll kill your fucking ass dead if you disagree.

Nope, I'm still with Roth on this one.

Intelligent design: the last word

That just about wraps things up, doesn't it? (Thanks, Art)

And here I was thinking that the debate had died in the 18th century after the Lisbon earthquake. Guess I have been too immersed in my science classes where I see all kinds of design, but not,it appears, what the creationists have in mind. Or is it? Maybe I would have received a better mark in my examinations if I had really understood the First Cause of things.
