Here is some information on the up coming weekend at Mission Bay Yacht Club the weekend after Thanksgiving. Some may want to arrive on Friday for the full weekend on Mission Bay. We'll enjoy the traditional Friday evening meal at the club. The club is pretty layed back, but the Friday evening meal is business casual. That's about as formal as it gets at the club. Also we'll need to know who will attend so reservations can be made. They always have a basic menu, i.e. Strak and potato: $14. Chicken plate: $10. calamari steak: $14. gourmet burger and fries: $9.50 They will also have other entrees which change weekly, and the entree menu for Nov.27 hasn't been determined yet, but for example, this Fridays menu includes: creamy tomato soup,(cup $3. bowl $5.), coconut shrimp or beef skewer appetizers,($5.), cafe salad,($5.), flat iron steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables,($22.), trout almondie, with all the goodies,($18.), honey chicken with all the goodies,($17), pumpkin pie and coconut cream pie,($4.)......so you get the picture. Really top class meals at resonable prices. On Saturday we can either have our smoked turkey picnic, with hotdogs or hambugers, or everyone can pick from the club's menu which is all kinds of sandwich's,salads, taco's, onion rings, fries, and hamburgers. Let us know what way you all want to go for Saturday afternoon. The club kitchen is open until 6:00 PM. Sunday morning the club kitchen has a full breakfast menu. So again, give us some thought on which way you all want to go. There are also several places to eat within easy walking distance to the club in Mission Beach.

We're looking forward to a GREAT weekend sailing on Mission Bay!

I have posted a new article written by Steve Henderson that details how he installed a IM boarding ladder on his 1993 Potter 15 "Elf".

Steve's method of installing a deck hatch so that he could reach the mounting nuts/bolts is different.

You can view the article and photos here:

Nice looking ladder!

Has anyone considered when sailing the WWP 15 in heavy weather, removing the drain plug and filling the lower bildge with water ( water ballast)?? Thanx, Jon 2007 WWP 15

I would think that to be a bad idea, as you need a place that would fill completely with no water being able to move around. The Potter would be way over weight and you would probably end up with a
submarine. Ed Brown

Hey Don and Matt,
Count us in for dinner at the club on Friday. We can go whatever way suits everybody else for Saturday. If we decide to cook out, we have an easy up that we could bring. Just let us know. We are really looking forward to this outing because Mission Bay is our favorite.
One question, which launch ramp is closest to the club? We will launch Friday and tie up at the club. Will be leaving Sunday.

Don & Matt, I plan on launching Friday afternoon and will pull out late Saturday or early Sunday. I would say if the club facilities are available for food that may make things a little easier than bringing pot luck items and having you do a bunch of cooking. Looking forward to a great weekend!

Thanks for the info guys....The closest ramp would be Dana Landing. I believe Matt has a map he'll be posting on the ramp locations and of the club lay out.
