Mick.....Of course this Friday, or Saturday would be good. Why you'll even get to meet Capt. Howie in person! He and his First Mate will be joining us Saturday. Now, with your engine problems.....is it stalling?(after the shear pin issue has been fixed) If running is an issue, I highly recommend fresh gas and a STRONG dose of "SeaFoam", except no substitutes, comes in a tall white can. Mix a strong dose with your gas, too much won't hurt a thing, and it cleans carb's like nothing else! Then just let your engine run. Snake oil? Maybe, but it's fixed many a rough running engine for me without having to mess with the carb. I always run StayBil, (the red stuff, mix as directed), and some SeaFoam in my gas. NEVER problems with the engine running smooth. Hear me now and believe me later! E:mail me for some specific info on getting in touch: Captdon001(that's zero zero one)@cox.net

Don, Where can I get "Seafoam" and "Staybil" (West Marine? Auto store?) and how much of a mixture with gas - I have the standard 2HP Honda on my Potter.

"SeaFoam" can be purchased at Advance , Napa, or Pep-Boy's. So can Stay-Bil, but it's cheaper at Wal-Mart or Home Depot(in the garden equipment section). The little Honda should have an internal tank. I would mix a full can of SeaFoam to 2.5 to 3 gallons of gas and use it. After that is used up,(and that will take a while with the little Honda), just a few oz. per 2.5-3 gallons plus the Stay-Bil will keep the fuel fresh. Mix the Stay-Bil as-per directions. Too much evidently isn't better. The SeaFoam cleans the little passages in the carb and also removes carbon from the combustion chamber, rings, and vavles. There are probably other carb cleaners that work well, I've just had such good luck with SeaFoam over the years is why I recommend it.
See you at Mission Bay?

Well, there's a lot to be said for experience so thank you for sharing this valuable information Don! Have to visit Walmart today to purchase some lines and fenders so will look for these products. I'm still serving in the Navy and plan to take my Potter down with me to the sub base at Point Loma. If time permits, and if my skipper will permit, you'll see me there - hopefully.

Just checking in for Friday night dinner. My Wife and two children will be with me. I do have a question. Would it be permissible to unhitch my trailer from the tow vehicle and keep it nearby? My wife is planning on visiting her friend in Dana Point on Saturday, and doesn't want to tow the trailer around (while I am sailing).
I hope I can get the outboard running. It has been sitting a long time, and with my last minute work details, I am pressed for time. There is much to be thankful for, and we look forward to meeting you and enjoying your company.

Paul, That should not be a problem, just get with Matt or myself once you get to the club to show you where to put the trailor.
That raises a good point, the club has a security gate to enter the grounds, so if anyone will need access e:mail me at CaptDon001@cox.net,(that's zero-zero-one on my name) so I can give you my cell number to get in touch with me. We'll also be monitoring CH-72, but we might not be at our boats all the time.
Also, does anyone NOT know how to get to the club? Matt made some nice maps that Capt Howie posted on the event announcement on the front page. again, if you need any additional information, e:mail me.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, including a lot of new faces it sounds like!

Hi Beth and Mick,
You can show up any time. I'll be around early in the day, about 10am. I'm planning on sailing, but I'll stay close so I can run back to take care of things as necessary. Don should be around about noon. If Don and I don't happen to be around when you show up, that's no problem either, just go ahead and tie up at the guest docks (they aren't marked in any way, but are the two long side-tie docks I indicated in the picture on the home page). If you want to go into the office and see Debbie, she'll get you signed in. It's mellow...nobody arriving by boat will get hassled.
A few people have asked about bringing over their cars and/or trailers from the launch ramp. That's probably ok as Don has pointed out, but we didn't ask for that specifically when we organized the event. It happens all the time though, when folks come from out of the area for regattas and so on. We'll sort it out when you get there. There's a gate when arriving from the street, so just ring the doorbell and let Debbie or whoever answers know that you are with Matt Marx and Don Boyko.
On Fridays, dinner happens at 7pm. We'll tally up our numbers during the day, so that we can let them know by 3 or 4pm how many we have coming. Friday is the only day there's a scheduled start.
Matt (VHF 16 on Friday, hail s/v Lily, or Potter Event)

Hey Mick,
I am working on the motor tonight. It has been sitting for awhile with old gas. I am going to use some sea foam with new gas, clean the plug if needed, and go from there. If I can't get it serviceable, I will go with my trolling motor or use my long oar if I have to. As far as launch ramps, not sure yet. How about you? I am coming from Phoenix and should be there early to mid-afternoon, if all goes as planned.

Check out the website counter on the front page. At this post it is recording 99,992 visits. Fuh Shing Pan recorded the 50,000 hit, who will record the 100,000 hit to the website?
