Harry sent me a very interesting article that he wrote entitled " Winter Solstice Moon". The article describes how three couples, sailing Potters, enjoyed a moon lit sail some time ago.

MISSION BAY PLANS: We got some Good News for Mrs. Howie today, HOORAYYY.

She still has some healing up to do so we won’t be bringing a boat to San Diego. Instead we have reservations at the Bahia for Saturday night. We will drive down early on Saturday to be in town for breakfast and drive home Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone and really appreciate the efforts of Don & Matt for pulling this whole thing together.

It's so great to hear good news about Mrs Howie healing well...

Hi all,

We are new Potter owners in San Diego and would like to meet all of you this coming weekend. Took the boat out today and weather was great. Had problems with our motor. Runs great at home but when on the bay the propeller is not engaging for some reason. We had to recently replace a pin and are wondering if perhaps we did not install that properly. Any ideas? Mick and Beth

Hey Denny are you out there??? Didn't you have the same problem with your prop? I thought I remembered you posting some pictures about it.

we figured it out after all. turned out the shear pin fell out and mystery solved by Mick.

Beth and Mick.....Looking forward to meeting you guys at Mission Bay Yacht Club next weekend. Matt and I were at the club this afternoon and talked about next weekend, so keep looking at this message site for the latest information. There were a bunch of boats out in the bay today, they had Snipe and Santana-20 racing going on, besides the folks who just like to sail. I'll give you guys fair warning too.....this is a fun group and you'll likely get hooked!

In sailing the P15. Do you leave your topping lift attached, or attached to the mast base while sailing?

I place a knot where the topping lift should be relative to the cleat for securing the boom. Then I add three turns around the cleat of length&#A0;to give the necessary slack for sailing, and secure at that length with hitches on the cleat. Then when through sailing I take my three turns around the base of the cleat which brings my knot back&#A0;to the cleat and is the correct length for furling the main. I like Jonathans way, I frequently forget to take my topping lift off until I'm under sail and find it hampering things. It can be a pain to get off when single handing. The boat doesn't want to stay luffed up while you do it and if you reach out and grab the boom to pull it in to get at the clip you have basically trimmed the sail and away she goes.

I had a bit of a hassle with the TL single handing, because I did not remove it, hoping for an easier take down. I will try the knot idea next time!
