I like reading about Postal Automation.

The Fss is supposed to be for 2nd and 3rd class according to what I read. What good is it to dps only 3rd class flats when you still have 2nd class and 1st class to add to it. They claim this will lower the carriers office time that's the goal. Well when you still have to add in your 2nd class and periodicals and first class (and any rejects) with your dps that takes time to case and comingle with the dps.

Old Timer.....Don't know about your facility, but in Palatine, Il. our BBM is growing. Definitely, our first class flats volume, is way down!
Anyway, from what i understand, is that the FSS is for BBM only, at least that's what we are being told!

"Despite cost-cutting measures, the Postal Service ended the second quarter with a net loss of $707 million, driven by a continued decline in mail volume resulting from the current national economic climate." Could it be they are spending too much money on the FSS system putting them in the hole? If the mail has declined then why spend so much to dps flats??? There may not be any flats in the future to dps!
