How do you get through to the kids?

Make it fun and interesting. Show them the cool things you can do with science. Show them how things they deal with every day use science. Audio-visual is the best way to go. Dazzle them with brilliance, don't baffle them with BS. Talk down to their level but don't underestimate their intelligence. Make them hungry for more. Don't just cram knowledge down their throats; show them the value of it. Take the time to answer their questions no matter how bizarre.
