Do you believe the U.S. government is interested in using nanotech for environmental cleanup?

Hi - I'm a bit new to this blog but my interest in nanotech goes back to Engines of Creation and an Omni article that turned me on to Drexler. I'm wondering why the touted nano-driven cleanups are being called lies. Not that I wouldn't put it past the current admin, but that's a different story.

I don't think they're interested in doing anything for the environment that costs money. I thought the comment was on the actual potential of the technology being proposed, rather than whether the will to use it or not was there. Re-reading after your comment, I agree that they are likely plugging the prospect of nano-driven cleanups to promote a 'don't worry be polutin' attitude. I just wondered if your view on the proposed tech is that it is a sound idea.
