Nice troll. Assuming you are a yank, I hardly think critism of our political system is intelligent. Firstly, you guys copied our system, and then made a mess of it. I'd rather have hereditary peers than legitimised bribery, a la "campaign contributions" or "lobbying". Hmm, the system is working really well right now…at least our premier was legitimately voted into power, and didn’t use family connections to influence a supreme court decision that settled the outcome. That would not have been acceptable here.

There are 5 free OTA TV channels, and the program quality is immensely better than USA television. The limit is five due to the way the frequencies were allocated historically; as a much smaller country physically, you have to consider overlap from adjacent cities interfering, so they use a different spread to allow for this, eating up a lot of the frequencies. Most folk have widescreen digital television now, we are about two years ahead technically from the USA in most aspects. No commercials, making the channels much more independent; criticizing the advertisers is not possible on USA TV. The license fee goes towards producing intelligent television, not "police camera action" type shows. See all those brilliant BBC documentaries? Living With Dinosaurs? The Planets? Blue Planet? That’s how they got paid for. The BBC also produces a lot of programming that would never be commercially viable; this is great for music etc. Radio One is one of the most renowned stations in the world.

You’re just jealous. ;-)
