My 3 year old son John has heard this prayer each night since he was born: he won't go to sleep without reciting it himself.
"Matthew, Mark, Luke and John Bless the bed that I lay on. Four corners to my bed, Five angels there lie spread. Two at my head, two at my feet One at my heart, my soul to keep."
(Linda, your post below seems like it's almost the same prayer; maybe your memory has switched the lines?)

My brother translates the table grace in German sent in by Irv.Cutter as:
All good things come from you, Oh God. Thanks a lot for what we've got. Amen.

my grandmother gave me a prayer for her son , my father-
not to insult anyone, only to thank G.
bless us lord for these thy gifts which we are about to recieve from thy bounty. AMEN.
our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as itis in heaven, give us this day our gifts of bread, and thank you for it; forgive us our tresspasses, as we forgive those who trespass aginst us. lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. AMEN

My dad died from cancer and i wrote this poem for him. he sang now i lay me every night to me ONE LAST LULLABY Now I lay me down to sleep... My dad lays in the hospital bed... I pray the lord my soul to take... WE gather around him and sing this prayer... If I should die before I wake... He breathes his last when the clock strikes twelve... I pray the lord my soul to take... He is free... Amen.

I chose not to pray for myself. I think this is a great one:
God bless mom and dad, God bless grandparents too, God bless aunties and uncles, old friends and new. Amen.
Got it from one of my favorite movies Waking Ned Devine
