actually, i go to bed sometime between 2 and 4am, typically, and sleep til 11 or so. last night/this morning, when i wrote the last part, i was finishing up a day of like 12-14 hours of recording daniel's new band... we stopped at about 4am. good stuff.

that's a pretty great story, painful or not. it wasn't so much that it was some dude hitting on me, that shit is bound to happen being as mutli-sexually attractive as i am, but he was some ulgy bro with a fatso friend... not even if i were guy, dudes...

No, but Germans really go crazy for new year's. we were out in thr street downtown at midnight and it was total madness. everyone was drinking champagne and shooting off fireworks. i was ludicrously drunk which is never a good thing when you have to walk down a long cobblestone road in high heels. and you're clumsy. so i fell down and managed to fracture a tiny bone in my wrist that is fucking up my whole life. but that was on the way home, so overall it was a lovely evening.

there was a big party at the acklen house with 3 bands and far too many people. the proxy jay doll was there, mingling with humans, though left to stand in a corner by the time i was ready to leave. really, i'm not sure what to say about the night... i didn't really get hit on that much, i didn't kiss anybody, some gay dude grabbed my ass, said i was hot, and asked if i'd make out with him, i finally got bored and sick of the crowd by a little before 2am and then left.

the best thing about the matt sharp show was that it was awesome. the hip-hop act, while pretty good for live hip-hop, was enhanced by the weirdness of the audience being small, white, and hipster. That kind of surrealnessism really appeals to me, like the concert at the end of the Southern Girls Rock Camp (here).
In all seriousness, I really enjoyed this post, j. And the mercator performance. It made me really hope that (A) you guys find someone to play bass, and (B) that Chris forgives you for your mockery of Jesus (less anti-christ, more rock!). Hooray for jeremy.

You wanna know the best thing about that Matt Sharpe show* besides all the ROKK? It was when that one dude from the hip-hop group through out a fistful of one dollar bills into the audience. Everyone kind of stood there for about a half a second before it was a mad rush for the money. Some ultra-white hipster dude in the front row was screaming and stuffing ones into his pocket. After that he danced through the rest of their show.


*The worst thing was not seeing Matt Sharpe. I was so embarassed that we bailed. But I was feeling supremely nauseated. I thought I might throw up, and nearly did just before I got to the car. I think it was Jay's supa-hard cigarette on an empty stomach. Anyway, Jeremy, you understand about the stomach woozies...

Yeah, I think probably the best thing about that band is their name. I wasn't there, but I heard that when they played at the Red Rose, they were being all, y'know, INTENSEROCKAROLLA, and the singer jumped up on one of the tables and broke it or something. Why don't they use some of their big rockstar money to buy the Red Rose some new furniture? Well, I'll tell you: a) they suck. b) they don't have any money because their record probably cost $100,000 to make and they'll never recoup that money because their record will never do anything. And they will die broke and ashamed. Now that's what I call Rock and Roll!

seriously, though, a single jeremyrad makes me think girls are dumb. or that this whole trendy lesbian thing has reached critical mass. or something. getting stood up is a good sign, though. it means that you are showing up, and that is a lot of it.

i'll tell you, now that i have this place for my thoughts and humor, exclusively, i don't have shit to write. i know what you said about opening notepad and doing all that but i feel like a preacher and i suck.

i know what you're saying about the reversal of headphones thing and the "wrongness" of the sound in the incorrect ear. it's funny how the brain fucks everything up for you sometimes. for me, this could be applied to so many things it's disgusting.

how big are these speakers at your grandparents'? i don't know why but both times you've talked about them, i have this mental image of boxers just blowing their hair forward. it's very funny, actually. i can imagine how hearing things from behind you could be distracting when watching tv or something.

the speakers on my computers are literally attached to the sides of the moniter. they can come off but then they'd have to sit directly on my desk and it's so messy, they'd kind of be in the way (not to mention they are shaped to look 'correct' against the sides of the monitor and they'd look very strange to me switched.

the left right listening reversal thing is pretty handy. The Studer console at school has a button that does that. My ears, for some reason, are really different in the way they perceive things. I'm not sure if I have a "good" ear, but everything sounds way different with the headphones on backwards. Like the EQ and the levels are different (even though they aren't).

The grandparents' "surround" is left/right correct facing the TV. But still... it's BEHIND. So aggrevating to me, and so not a big deal to anyone else in the family. But I also tend to pan everything mostly to the front in the car.

So... why can't you just put the speakers on the "wrong" side of the computer?

*it'll be hard to get pictures of me drunk since i rarely drink but i'll see what i can do.

that's still pretty kick ass to have the sound from behind you... i wonder if he installed it with the orientation of left and right from watching the tv's perspective or from facing the wall's perspective. my computer (the pc not used for audio) is very strange in that the speakers won't work when they're plugged in to play sound the correct way but do work when it's backwards (so all my left channel comes out of the right and vice versa). i listen to some mixes on my computer speakers as one reference and it always throws me off at first... "wait, i thought that shit panned left to right..."

seriously, though. old people can be really not smart about buttons. when my grandparents had their house remodeled after a fire, they asked the contractor to put in "the surround sound". but he put in just the left and right channels of the TV into in-wall speakers behind the recliners, such that when you watch tv, ALL of the sound comes from BEHIND you. and they are still so proud of their surround sound.
