however a tip for the wise:
if you go off the meat for a while and then want to come back (it sounds obvious and yet somehow...) do it SLOWLY. i hadn't eaten any meat (meat, poultry, fish...etc) in two years and i dove into a meal of fish at a dinner party a few months ago. no shit...THREE days i had a cannonball in my stomach. nothing would make my body digest that food.
i jumped right back on the no meat wagon.

I do not eat white bread, sugar, flour, or potatoes if I can help it.
That's actually about all I eat. Naah, I've been known to enjoy the occasional fruit or vegetable. Bananas and honeydew kick ass. Collard greens, corn on the cob, hot peppers, sweet taters (specially in pie form), and pecans and peanuts are of course an important dietary staple.
And I loves me some seafood. Shrimp, crabs, calamari. chico and vidiot introduced me to the joys of oysters last week.
And I could never give up beef, let alone all meat. I eat red meat 3 meals a day pretty much. I've also eaten alligator, bunny rabbit, kangaroo and chicken heart on a stick.
Plus, to my joy there's an Italian pasty shop/gelateria across from our apartment. I had a bowl of the tiramisu flavor, yesterday. 'twas badass. I'm expanding into gourmet garbage food. And I wash all this down with oceans of beer.
But if you can kick the habit, hey more power to ya sister.

Some tips: Eggplant burgers (look on allrecipes.com for the recipe). Tacos with Boca Fake Ground Beef.
P.S.: So glad you hung out with VCB. Yey!

OK, I will undoubtedly shatter your image of me as the supercool, devil-may-care chick, but I'm a bit OCD about my diet. I eat a lot of plain yogurt, a lot of nuts, assloads of fruit and veggies, beans, whole grains, and fish and chicken, mostly, though I will eat just about any meat except entrails (and I drew that line somewhat reluctantly).
Oh, and a whole lotta peanutbutter. The unsweetened kind from the healthfood store. It's not so bad after a while.
I do not eat white bread, sugar, flour, or potatoes if I can help it.
It works for me, though YMMV. Not that you asked.
(Of course, my diet goes out the window when I meet jonmc and vidiot for drinks and they arrive laden with asian supermarket foodstuffs.)

http://www.deltablues.net/biscuit.html ?? Speaking of meat. When I was a sophmore in high school, we had a little ritual before one of our basketball games. With White Zombie's 'More Human Than Human' blaring from a small boombox and candles lighting the room, one of the seniors pulls out a raw cut of steak. He went around to each persons locker and tore a small piece off for them to eat. It was all in fun. Before most games we usually had to listen to the latest rap tracks, or bone thugs and harmony.

edgeling: what C3 really needed was a second half. and boring (lack of) plot aside, the music was pretty kick ass, especially if you at all like Steve Reich or Eno. Or things that are good. Battletapes: yes yes to psuedo-meat. those fake hot dogs marketed under names like SmartDogs or TofuPups are tasty straight out the plastic. Morningstar makes great breakfast sausage type things. Also, I've heard that a certain coffee house in Murfreesboro has a pretty good vegetarian menu. brittney: two things: beans=good. creamy=like butter.

Cremaster 3? What that movie needs is some guy who can't be killed who goes around cremating people. Because he's mad that he was prematurely cremated. And he's dead, that's important... he can't be killed because he's already dead. And he looks all burned up. Yeah. And he could say snappy things like "Do you take your coffee with... CREMATION?"
Hell yeah.

2 things.
phrough: definitely not a metallica cover band. while i love early metallica, i don't think we have that many things that are similiar to their music. follow brittney's link to hear for yourself. i just thought that the metallica lightning bolt logo always kicked ass and, luckily, the design worked with our name too so sometimes i put the name like that on fliers or little ads like that for some effect or to draw people's attention.
2. i forgot to say to brittney that, while i'm sure you're already well aware of this, there are number of fake meat products out there that are almost as good as a lot of meat products... i've SERIOUSLY cut back on red meat in the past 5 or 6 months and, considering that i don't eat most vegetables in their raw form (though i think they can be okay in their byproduct form like with fakemeat stuff), cutting out something like burgers was a HUGE thing for me. now i mostly eat turkey and chicken. i like them feathered beasts, i guess. oh, and i don't eat seafood really, either, so your diet plan wouldn't work for me.

here's to Brittney being wildly content!
But when you say "Very Cute Boy that his name emblazoned across his ass"...well, can you be more specific? That describes a lot of us.
(well, except maybe for the "very cute" part.)

I eat peanutbutter that reminds me of myself, creamy and smooth. :)
Battletapes: is your band a Metallica cover band, or just the logo?

I did the same thing recently too! We should start a club! But lets call it a gang instead, 'cause that's more fun.
Anyway, I cut out all meats and fried foods for one month, almost as an experiment. Since then, I've just cut way down on my red meat consumption. I now have red meat 1 or 2 times a week instead of 2 per DAY. I eat more white meats, and more fruits and vegetables. And it is a good thing.
Also, Brittney, if you're going to be dating and shit, you owe us sexy details, at least.

I understand where you're coming from - I recently did the much the same thing. Vegetables and fruit are the key. LOTS of them. Well, that's what I found as an inexperienced, experimental vegetarian. The carb trap is really tough not to play into and can be hard to get out of. I say that as I sit here eating peanut butter (chunky, of course) from the jar. Good luck!
