Never watched it. I know, I know, it's a classic, but I just never got into it. The little I saw I think I found depressing.

Re Brazil - Blackstar in the UK has it for 14 quid; Ezydvd for $35. Their shop in Cannington might carry it. Much to Leece's chagrin, I got their last copy of R and G are Dead.

We're on the slippery slide into Xmas. Bah. I saw fruit mince pies in Coles a couple a weeks ago and Chrissie decs last week.
At the beginning of the year I saw the bizarre combination of left over Xmas stuff on one side of the shopping aisle and Easter eggs on the other.
Have I already said Bah?

Everquesting friend of mine was asked what he was doing for Thanksgiving by an American quester, who couldn't understand it when he was told that we don't actually celebrate that particular holiday in this country.
He was also asked by another if we had computers in Australia.

In my day, education was free and they paid you to go to university! The princely sum of $43 a week, top whack! I lived quite well on that - $55pw rent split between 3 of us, paid off a motor cycle and could afford to smoke.
And I walked 10 miles through the snow to get to school, licorice squares for 4 for a cent, etc etc.

But of course, what are friends for? Although it will be slightly different to the proofreading I have been doing - the aim with DP is to match the page exactly, not to correct grammar or spelling. However I'm fairly sure I can do that stuff if necessary, or just check for typos.

Alien is easily the most horrific of the four, so it's actually clearer sailing from here on in. Aliens is much more of a military action piece, with some great characterization by Weaver's Ripley. Alien 3 is the best of the lot. Special editions out in about 2 weeks on DVD, too!

Re Russell Crowe - I've seen Gladiator (for Derek Jacobi) and I've seen bits of a Beautiful Mind (for Paul Bettany) and I saw the Sum of Us (for Jack Thompson) and I think that's all.
I wouldn't mind seeing Master and Commander as it has boats, Paul Bettany, Billy Boyd and pirates.
Ok, they're not really pirates.

The first Ninja Turtles movie is great IMO. It's a wonderful co-production between Golden Harvest (HK company who produced all of Jackie Chan's films) and Jim Henson (who did all of the puppetry, and one of their main directors headed this film), and it feels like it too. For the second film they dumped the Henson Co. to cut costs, and by god it showed.

He came back to work today and was sparky at the beginning of the day but had a headach at the end. Guess the place does that to you. Anyway hope you feel well enough to enjoy staying at home but not well enough to come to work untill it is too late on Friday.

Thanks Pamela and Chris, mine's not that bad Pamela, no aches so far, (My usual run of symptoms is sore throat so it's sore to swallow, followed by drippy nose and sneezes, which then leads into cough which hopefully *doesn't* last long. I'm just moving from drippy into cough at the moment.) But yes. Still no point in giving it to other people since I can do most of my work just as well from here. Besides, it's spooky up where my office is, hardly anyone about (popped in on Monday morning to demonstrate my reasons for working from home)

Back in the late 80's I worked for the then Minister for Works and Services. One of the perks was a free trip to the Observatory, which fell into her portfolio, complete with a go on the big telescope and food and drinkies.
The staff used to have a photo of the Enterprise on their wall and they'd joke that they took the pic one night.
For some of my fellow workers it was their first look through a telescope and they were awestruck. Couldn't get the buggers off!
