The employee just called to expand his vacation to Saturday. He's in the middle of vacation. I don't like plans that change in midstream. I don't much like the employee's vacation because it means I get to have twelve-hour days during the week. And I really, really don't like having to work Saturdays.
I said yes anyway. I am such a freaking wuss.
-- Jessica No, I really don't know how I'm going to make it to the meeting. Perhaps I'll declare a holiday at work.

Well, I don't really want second shift, no.
You guys' economy out there is appalling, if I may say so... I don't know how to convince these people that a) I really do want a Philly job, not VA (got my first recruiter emailing me with a local job today), and b) that I really do know all sorts of stuff I'm not certified for.
But here I am ready to give up after two days... silly me. Well, it is kind of a corrollary to the disturbing fact that I've run out of job leads after only two days. Doesn't anybody need some Ciscos configured?
(Jessica, I was thinking the same thing about the travel reimbursements :)
--Amanda P.s. Yeah, send me local classified listings... philly.com doesn't have 'em...

If I recall correctly, we voted down travel reimbursements... so no, we cannot reimburse you for travel expenses to reset a looping Mark.

Actually, I think Fred is technically closest to Chicago.
Will the forum reimburse me for gas and lodging if I provide receipts?

I think Mark is stuck. Someone give him a whack. Sharon, you're closest to him.

I think, specifically, it's elves.
Foreign elves taking over indexing functions at Google? Dammit, now they're moving our search engine jobs overseas, too!

Would anyone know a website that has a list of all the various area codes and the states associated with them? I know its a bit of an odd request, but, it would be useful at work.

Amanda: If you want a second shift job that makes you hate your life I may be able to find you something. But the pay sucks and it makes you want to die (well, at least it does that for me but I work first shift and the position is the engineering section and not support but I remain pessimistic)

Amanda, how's the job search going? And is there anything one of us can do to help, like mailing you the help-wanted ads from local papers?
No local papers, unless you're about to have a mega-employment issue like the Washington Post is down here. If anybody has a personal acquaintance with a manager who is hiring, though, let me know :) (I'm a Cisco networking expert with delusions of (read: unpaid experience in) Unix sysadminning and programming.)

Wow. At that moment where Stacy's about to open the fridge, I just had this sudden Cowboy Bebop flashback ;)
and then she wrote:
Oooh, this *is* nifty! Portraits of cats as painted by someone progressively going insane...
Yes, that was neat. I thought at first that even the "normal" cats were rather alarming. The later stages would make a nifty carpet.
