I get flack for using Amazon daily, so let me rant on this for a sec...

Firstly, they are obviously not making up their data. They obviously have/had a copy of an album that gave them whatever information they display, so if it shows a different label than what yours does, it's because almost every album in existence has several iterations and re-releases and imprints.

Secondly, if you want better or more data, or don't like Amazon, then find me another online store that is hugely popular and has a gigantic music library (popular + big = incrementally accurate data), plus has unique product codes for every product, plus all the manufacturer information on almost every product, plus has an open window to its database for developers... and I'll use it. I will even make a filter so you don't see Amazon's data if you don't want it.

Boo. The results are based on Amazon's idea of what label a given album is on, and that's not a terribly reliable source. Use with caution.

'A', 'The The', and 'Live' are my favorite bands for examples
of difficult searching.

Also, you might want to check out emusic.com for legal downloads of lots of indie music. Epitonic.com showcases lots of indie artists with lots of downloadable MP3s and a kick ass 128 kbs streaming radio.

FYI this has been posted here before... but there is some new stuff, such as the Amazon Indie 100, which is a list of the top 100 selling albums on Amazon that are RIAA-free, and the Amazon Hot 100, the hot sellers in general (you can see just how far down the RIAA-free releases are in context). That is all, thank you -humble site owner

handy, i like... a little bit hard to find bands like "James" and "The The" though, unless you know album titles
