don't know if this is the right way to integrate a discussion with a wiki, like the rest of this site its an expirement.

hmmm, pagliacci is throwing me into confusion, part of me really wants to limit the site to only coffee shops, what do people think? (probably just talking to myself here)

i think they should be listed... think of it more about getting online with wifi in social spaces rather than the fact that they serve soda and bread with tomatoes and cheese instead of bitter water....

Alot of Wikis just use a page (or every page) as a discussion. People can create pages for themselves, then "sign" their comments using the WikiWord for their page.

Anyway, C&U is a great resource. Thanks for putting it up. I liked to it from my blog-shaped-thing.

I think places like Pagliacci should be listed too, BTW.

I like the inclusion of Pagliacci. I think the key is internet service, not the kind of food. :)

On a different note: I haven't found much in the way of WiFi in the International District but I did find a cafe with free internet access on *their* computers. Should I add it or is the base requirement WiFi?

goodness! indeed a very impressive list of free wi-fi in seattle, but i noted something. nothing really available for people living south of pioneer square! does anyone have any further updates on how to get connected or where to get free wi-fi in south seattle? neighborhoods like rainier valley, beacon hill, columbia city, and cities such as renton, burien, tukwila, etc? any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance. Hi there...I wanted to add a cafe, clicked the link and got a message that 'twere forbidden. Maybe I missed something? Anyhoo, Plymouth Cafe on Third and Cherry in downtown has free wifi through Zhonka. Zhonka's been really active, politically and otherwise, in making internet access even more accessible. Plymouth Cafe was started by Plymouth Housing Group, and all profits go to benefit their mission of getting the homeless into permanent housing. Organic coffee, great atmosphere, great food, yadda, yadda. I'll stop the shameless plugging since I'm the manager and chef, and I'm starting to blush. It's there, and the wireless is free. Enjoy.

The "How do I add a new coffee shop" instructions are lame for those of us older folks who are barely smart enough to get onto the internet. Specifically, the very first instruction is to "Create a new page by linking to it from the Home Page under Coffee Shops"...Huh? How can I link to it if it does not yet exist? I have a location or two to add, but sadly, I don't appear to be smart enough to figure out how to proceed. Will a smarty-pants please enlighten me? Thank you!

I use this site a lot from my cell phone (mobile browser) to find a coffee shop on-the-go where I can plug in my laptop. I find the site to be really handy -- good job!

My one gripe is that the background image (the brown ring) takes a long time to load over GPRS (and sucks bandwidth). The following modification to the page CSS would alleviate this greatly. If the administrator is listening, I'd appreciate this addition to the CSS:

@media handheld { div#content { background: #fffff7; } }

When I first started looking at it (a month ago or so), the second
map (served up from a UW address) was working. Now it's not.
I would really like to have the map working again. For me
(Safari 2.0.2) the first map is just a blank page. Sadly.

I love this site! But might it be possible for reviewers to give some indication of the noise level in individual coffeehouses? Some coffeeshops are designed for socializing and others for getting work done in peace. It would be really helpful to have some idea of how noisy a place will be/what kind of music they play/etc.

I added a new category to seattle.wifimug.org called Exurbs and put in the cities of Everett and Tacoma and those communities that lie either to the north of Everett or south of Tacoma. If that's a problem, it's easily fixable. Although I'm responsible for most of those listings, Bellingham and Tumwater are not really suburbs of Seattle.
