the alledged loss of the record industry because of p2p has yet to be proved. the statements of the music industry have no valid backing. in fact, kodak has suffered exactly the same losses as the RIAA shows in their statistics, without any possiblity to blame p2p.
it has repeatedly been shown that people who do a lot of p2p music downloads also buy more cd´s then the rest. to assume that every downloaded track is one that would have been bought on cd is ridiculous.
the so called "piracy" is happening elsewhere. large-scale copying and distribution of cd's is one of the real culprits.
in the light of these facts, online copying of music is really good for the music industry. and when and if the RIAA stops acting like a bunch of ******, they will see that they could very well profit from it.
