Steve Yeast -

I hope you suffer from a real oral yeast infection, and busted knee caps for favoring management.

Take your shit, well your lies and get the hell off this blog.

You are simply lying about your powers on the site, please just go back to packing management's fudge.

Well here in Cleveland I know of at least 7 employees in Management who have recieved letters stating the date of termination of employment. That being said, the pecking order for vet pref is as follows.5%- A.K.A "5 pointer". Then 10 point noncompesable. 10 point- 30% or less, then 30% or more. 10 point Purple Heart. and Congressional Medal Of Honor recipients. Are at the top.30 % or more vets will the ones turning ou the lights so to speak. Meaning they will be the last to go. These vets have super senority, for available jobs providing they posses the skill set.

I don't believe that anyone is loosing their jobs anytime in the near future if at all.

There are far too many things that have to be accomplished before a RIF or layoffs.

And if not, those who are laid off, would be entitled up to nearly $755,000.00 in layoff or RIF money. It depends on you length and level of service.

Thats right, there is and always has been provisons in place that effects federal employees just like it does civil service employees.

Since postal management has no management skills or people skills, they rule under the rule of "fear".

And you Vets should know that rule, the same one when you were in basic training.

My NCO Academy in '67 was far worse that basic, but there was no fear factor involved.

When you haven't got the skills, you can only manage with the policy of fear.

Before layoffs or RIFs, the courts will get involved and that could take years.

My Opinion.

Veterans Preference does not stop after the hiring process. If you get excessed involuntarily from your position, you have to be placed in the same level position. You can be placed into a lower level job, but you will have to accept this change. You will be paid the same, just working in a different position. For example: Vet Pref clerk gets excessed from his job. The PO could offer him a mail handler level 4 position. The Vet can waive his preference and become a mail handler. While doing this lower level work, he will still get paid his level 6 clerk pay. He still keeps his vet pref.

For Vet Pref, I believe it is only used for entrance into the post office. Once your an employee, it isn't really used anymore. I could be wrong about this, and I welcome any other opinions about it. For the 6 year thing, it depends on what union your in as to what protections you have.

Can anyone tell me how vet pref works if you have been with the PO for less than 6 years? How about disabled vets? Are those with less than 6 years subject to a RIF if one were to happen? Any help would be appreciated.

veteran is not used for promotion. but if you feel your denied a promotion or beign hired for no-veterans you do have apeal rights under USERRA and VOEA. But you must meet timelimit set by VOEA and USERRA do not have a timelimit. You must link the denial of promotion, etc to your status as a veteran.

/m461 Here is a link that will describe veterans preference in federal hiring. Did not see anything about the 60% disability for automatic hiring. I am sure there are others which may describe it in more detail.
