or maybe he just thinks that because no one's banned his books and if anything was ban-worthy, blah-blah-blah

Did anyone else find this comment to be a little, I don't know, stupid?
"A film has to maintain a certain decorum in order to be broadcast to a vast audience. No one really gives a damn about books. No one has bothered to ban a book in decades."
This just seems to show a complete lack of any social awareness on his part.

In the picture, Chuck Palahniuk looks more like Tony Perkins than Jimmy Stewart...

Corn and peanutsMore faintings at Chuck Palahniuk (seen here looking curiously like Jimmy Stewart) readings. I love it. So far, 67 people have fainted while I've read Guts. For a nine-page story, some nights it takes 30 minutes to read. In the first half, you're pausing for so much laughter from your audience. In the second half, you're pausing as your audience is revived. My goal was to write a new form of horror story, something based on the ordinary world, without supernatural monsters or magic. Guts, and the book that contained it, would be a trapdoor down into some place dark. A place only you could go, alone. Only books have that power. You know, I can relate to this... I've lost consciousness at plenty of readings. Home

Chuck Palahniuk has had a hard life But he's doing OK now. After Chuck has racked up a couple of hundred dollars on his credit card on novelty items, we drive a few blocks to Wal-Mart, where he buys 20 small cuddly creatures, kittens and puppies mainly, and a few rabbits and rodents. ... this is Chuck's way of saying thanks to his fan base. One of each will end up in an individually packaged gift box, alongside an individually penned letter from Chuck to each and every one of the faithful who have written to him. 'I've lost count of the times people have come up to me after an event and said, "Thanks for the fluffy toy, Chuck, my daughter loves it so much." People treasure the fluffy toys.' Back in the pick-up, he tells me that each gift box is worth about $25. I do the math: a thousand boxes adds up to twenty five grand, not counting postage. That's a lot of money. 'It is,' he says, still smiling. 'But you know what? I have a lot of money.' Home

Fan covers Chuck Palahniuk's fans keep sending in their own versions of covers to his books. Some of them are damned good, including the ones for his new book, Haunted, which isn't even out yet. "People have been sending me covers they've done for art school projects since about 1999," Palahniuk says. "I'm really impressed with the quality of the work. "This is the first generation that has grown up with these incredible tools," he says, referring to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, design software once available only to professionals. Home
