Why is it I have this sneaking suspicion that 'offending Iraqis with Photoshopped Saddam' will turn out six months from now to be yet another 'millions of artifacts looted' or 'brutal Afghan winter?'

It's carping for the sake of carping; there's nothing substantial to complain about - no genocide, no concentration camps, no rape and pillage - so why not complain about being offended? If Iraqis want to rip up pictures of the Pope, I don't particularly care. It bothers me about as much as if they were to rip up pictures of Darth Vader. If you set your mind to it, you can be offended by anything.

I also don't see how the ongoing WMD issue is related. Was there a Council for the Hoarding and Deployment of Nerve Gas offended by the concept 'Iraq should not be allowed to possess WMDs?'
