Donald usually seems happy despite the fact that others are always making fun of him. Why do you think this is and do you think that it really bothers him?

Donald always is happy despite the fact everyone is always making fun of him because they think Donald is a loser. They think he is a loser because he doesn’t realize he is getting made fun of and always loses but doesn’t care. Donald is definitely an optimistic person. I think sometimes the things people say really bother him. Usually Donald doesn’t understand people are making fun of him and it doesn’t bother him.

I think that Donald gets made fun of because he is different, and people think that it is bad to be different. I don’t think it bothers him because is very caring and just thinks of himself as a normal kid, just like everyone else.

People make fun of Donald because they think he’s weird because he’s always happy. Early in the book Donald doesn’t really care because he’s always happy and he doesn’t know its bad. Later Donald started to figure out people were making fun of him, like at field day when he heard kids talking about him and he wanted to skip school.

I think that Donald is happy because he is trying to be like the others and doesn’t let them make him upset. For example, at field day Hobins was being cruel to him because he couldn’t run and do the activites as well as the others. He tried to make friends by being nice and respectful to them. He even quit field day the next year and didn’t go to school because he was on Hobins team again and couldn’t switch teams. He shows he is a good friend by how he went out side in the cold, for 7 hours just so he could find his lost friend. Do you think any of the other kids, or even you would have done that?

I think Donald does not mind that everyone thinks he is a loser until field day, then he notices that his team does not want him there. Lose That is when his name turns into Loser! It echoes in his ear. But at the end of the book a kid looks up to him and says (I pick you!) he is not a leftover anymore.

In the beginning I think when the other kids tease him and take stuff away from him it does not bother him because he is very generous and nice. Towards the part of field day he begins to understand that he is being teased and people are taking things away from him, because he is different. I think he has every right to be happy and generous when or where ever he wants.

I think that Donald doesn’t know that others are making fun of him, Donald is different, that isn’t always bad. Sometimes I think that he doesn’t mind, like when the older kids took his hat. He thought it was a mistake, that maybe he took the 4th graders hat by accident. Since Donald didn’t yell, or cry, he got his hat back! But one day he skipped school because he was made fun of, nobody wanted him on his team for Field Day. That is the one time he felt bad about something a kid said, because the kids said it out loud!

I think it doesn’t bother Donald because he never knows he is a left over. He is generous and he is kind. He is generous because he went out for 7 hours just to find a little baby. He is kind because he gives his toy truck to a bully when he took it away. In the middle he felt bad because everyone was calling him loser so he didn’t go to school for field day because he couldn’t trade teams.

I think that Donald knows that everyone makes fun of him. Like when someone is feeling down he trys to make the person happy. When the little girl was lost he didn’t know that she was already found. I think that was really nice and kind of him.
On field day he said that he could run really fast but instead of the other boy being anchor he was it. Then when his team lost everyone was mad at him, then he felt sad.

People make fun of Donald because he isn’t good at sports like they are, he laughs at everything, and because he doesn’t have any friends. I think Donald knows people make fun of him but it only hurts his feelings when they tell it to his face. He is a really great friend with a big heart. I feel really bad for him. He even skipped school on field day because he heard people talking about him and he wasn’t allowed on any of the teams. My favorite part was when he was looking for Claudia because that shows that he really cares for other people. What’s your favorite part in Loser?

They make fun of him because he’s very different than other people. It doesn’t bother him because he thinks they’re laughing with him not at him. For example when he thought his hat was the other kids hat. The kid said it was his hat and he believed him. He only felt bad one time in the book. That’s when he didn’t want to go to school because of field day. The rest of the book he was always happy.

I think it doesn’t bother him because he doesn’t really think they’re trying to be mean ,so he lets them be mean. Maybe a few times in his life his feelings got hurt like before field day when other kids were talking about him ,so he did not want to go to school.

I think that Donald does not know what it means to be made fun of. I don’t think that it bothers him because he doesn’t understand what it means. If you have read this book ponder why Donald doesn’t understand what being made fun of means.

I think other people bother Donald because he is different from them. I think he is different because he does not fight or talk back in a bad way when someone calls him names or hurts him.
I do not think that this bothers him because he is always thinking positive about people and does not takes anything personally. For example, when a kid from his class takes off his giraffe hat, Donald did not yell or cry. Instead he thought it was the kid’s hat and said, “I am sorry, I probably took it by mistake.” Since he did not cry or yell the kid gets annoyed and gives the hat back.

I think other children bother Donald because he is different from all the other kids. He is different because he is always thinking about others and never fights back when someone calls him names or hurts him.
I do not think that this bothers Donald because he would never take anything personally. For example, when a kid from Donald’s school takes Donald’s giraffe hat and says that it is his, Donald does not cry or yell he just thinks that maybe it is his and lets him have it. (The older kid soon gets annoyed that Donald is not crying so he gives the hat back)
