Steve from one Donner brat to another it was great to meet you , it to was my first reunion and from what I saw was a close family no matter when you served or what division you were from .
The stories are always the best my biggest regret was that I couldn't sit down with each and everyone that served on the Ole Donner to hear their tales of the sea but the stories I did get to hear were priceless .

Hello everyone, I'm Ron Luxon's son. I'd like to say to all that attended the 2009 reunion in Washington D.C. how much I enjoyed meeting you. This was my first reunion with the Donner crew and if my schedule permits I'll attend another in the near future.
I'm still serving on active duty as a Navy Seabee attached to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit TWO at NAB Little Creek. This Memorial Day I'm taking the time to say thank you to all of you that served and preserved the freedom to allow me to make a 23-year career out of the Navy so far. Please say thank you too to all our spouses that support us as my wife Anne has for the last 8 years; a Navy wife is a career too.
As a son of the Donner, I'd like to get the word out to all sons and daughters of the USS Donner to experience a Donner reunion. I would not be in the Navy today if it wasn't for my dad's experience on his ship. I grew up on his stories of the sea and I heard from other sons of the Donner that I'm not alone.

Hope everyone had safe trip home and it was wonderful to meet you all and your wives. We will for sure be at future reunions . On a side note I consider it an honor to serve as editor of the news letter , I know that I have some big shoes to fill with Mr. Halfrey stepping aside but I hope can do as great as he does if not please let me know , I hope everyone will enjoy it .
